Draft: Poured a dirty beige color ale with a medium size foamy had with OK retention. Aroma consists of rustic malt with floral and herbal notes. Taste is a complex mix between some rustic malt notes with some floral undertones and light herbal notes. Body is full with limited filtration and good carbonation. Nice mix between complexity and drinkability. I would love to have this beer available to me on a more regular basis.

sampled on tap at volo as part of the hopfenstark release party at volo, dec 11/2010.

pours hazy orange with a dense white head. the head quickly drops to a ring around the glass and leaves a few spots of lace.

aroma is great. funk. lemon. cider vinegar. grain. white bread and cracker. orange and light citrus. horse blanket. hint of alcohol.

taste is good. funk again! this almost passes saison funk levels into wild ale territory. lemon. cider vinegar. wheat bread and cracker. light alcohol. low bitterness level. horse blanket. bit of leather. light citrus.

mouthfeel is good. low carbonation level. medium body with a fairly dry finish.

drinkability is great. nice balance. great funky depth without being overwhelmingly sour or acidic. good stuff!

On tap at Volo.

Pours a hazy, headless cider, with a murky appearance. No lacing or head whatsoever, and perhaps the worst appearance I've ever seen for a saison. However, things take a significant turn for the better in the aroma, which is like a wonderful geuze. It may not be true to style, but this makes a fantastic beer. Both the nose and the flavour have the same notes - big funky horse blanket, sour lemon, brett in spades, leather. The brett has just gone insane in this one, and its produced a wonderfully tart, funky brew. Light mouthfeel and carbonation keeps the whole lambic tone going.

Alright, its an exploration in extreme brett wild funkiness, and it sits a little uneasily amongst fellow saisons, but man is this one interesting and tasty brew.

Enjoyed at Mondiale 2010, Day Two. Musty aroma. Cloudy orange colour with lace. A little sour lemon, orange citrus, herbal and light spice such as cardmon and white pepper, with some sugar/rett-like substance and malt and light spices. Easy mouthfeel, good drinking.Another good saison by Fred.
