On cask during Cask Days 2013.

Beer is cloudt orange, with a minimally sized off-white head.

Smell is strong and very nice. Tropical fruits jump out, mainly passionfruit. A bit soapy.

Taste is not as vibrant or nice as the nose. Moderately bitter, with some passionfruit and other fruits, and some toasted malt. Similar to the nose, but ramped down.

Medium bodied, low natural carbonation level.

Overall, pretty good.

Bottle: Poured a bright orangey color ale with a large foamy head with good retention and some good lacing. Aroma of light fruity hops notes with semi-sweet caramel malt base is interesting. Taste is mostly dominated by fruity hops with some semi-sweet ca5ramelized malt and light floral finish. Body is about average with good carbonation. Overall this was an enjoyable experience though this is far form a variety of hops that I enjoy.

750ml Bottle from Marche Omni QC for 9$

Appearance - Hazy copper colour with a large size frothy beige coloured head. It's hard to see the amount of carbonation showing and there is some good lacing. The head lasted for around 4-5 minutes.

Smell - Hops, malts, caramel, grassy/herbal notes

Taste & Mouth - There is an average amount of carbonation and I can taste caramel and hops. There is also some light grapefruit flavour mixed with a herbal/grassiness and a hint of tropical fruit sweetness. It ends with a sweet aftertaste with a mild hop bitterness.

Overall – An interesting beer and not what I was expecting from a APA. It has a a lot of flavour and remains interesting throughout the glass. I would call this more of a English PA than an American though. It's just too sweet though.. It has a sweetness that I would expect from a DIPA. I'd rate it higher if it was less sweet.

Thanks Deadbolt82!!

Appearance. Pours a nice, rich amber-gold with a finger of bubbly and foamy off-white head that has decent retention.

Smell. Big yellow grapefruit, some orange and a bit of lime. There's a bit of caramel malt there, but wow that citrus!

Taste. Again, lots of citrus. Bitter yellow grapefruit juice, a little lemon and lime, some floral hops. Sweet malts come through all those hops.

Mouthfeel. Medium+ body, low carbonation. I like a little more carbonation to cut down that sweetness.

Overall. A fine, big pale ale. Maybe not in abv, but in flavour it's pretty big.

100% Falconer Flight's hops, never tried these.

A: Hazy amber, as expected with most hops forward pale ales. Thick and frothy cream white head with very good retention and strong lacing considering the low ABV.

S: The beer is fresh and the hops are very much upfront. You get the yellow grapefruit juice at the very front, then you get orange and lime with nice and light floral note. Then, you get a solid malt fondation with honey and caramel. EDIT: Pineapple, all the way!

T: Taste follows the nose very well. You get the hops at the beginning with the yellow grapefruit, lime juice, candied orange peel and light piny and flowery notes. You get, again, the caramel and honey that blends really well with the malts without being overpowering for a APA (which is the case very often with APA and IPA's that are made in Quebec) but still a touch too sweet for my personal taste. EDIT: lots of pineapple, I forgot about it.

M: Medium body with medium to low carbonation. Much stickier than expected.

O: This is very solid, it might just be the very best APA made in Quebec. More breweries from around should follow Hopfenstark and play more with the west coast hops as aromatic hops.
