Decent place to sit back. The high top tables are a bit far from the bench seeting along the wall.

The brews were fresh, but I chose only new seasonal selections. Seems that that update and rotate taps frequently.

Waitress came over a few times to check on us, but given the slow time of day, I would have expected to see her a little more often.

400+ bottles, 30 or so taps...selection is good, and does have a nice seasonal representation. Something for every taste is available.

Food is from neighboring places. They have a menu book for the restaurants in the plaza, which deliver to the bar. Nice idea to offer something for your food needs without the need to run your own service.

A decent cost, nothing ridiculous, but not a bargin either. What I would expect to pay elsewhere.

I go to this WoB occasionally to get some different beers from the WoB in Carrollwood that I go to. The staff is friendly and for the most part fairly knowledgeable about styles and can pair one with a beer depending on their taste. As everyone has stated it can get packed on Friday and Saturday's, especially here in football season. There is restaurants around that deliver for free to WoB. So there is food for most anyone.

Pros: Great beer selection, friendly/knowledgeable staff
Cons: fairly small for the volume of business they do

Atmosphere: Located in the middle of a nice shopping establishment in Tampa - I walked in as a live cover band started playing "Wonderwall" by Oasis. I looked to my left and found a twenty foot wall of bottle beer in coolers. A two story chalk board highlights their draft menu. Entertaining both inside and outside with a pull up glass garage door, the bar has 20+ taps with solid beers like Stone Ruination, Bells, Shipyard, Lost Coast, among other greats.

As the band rattled on with only the best of the 90s on acoustic, I had several pints of beer. All served in their signature glasses. The bartending staff was well educated and fine.

They have beer-to-go and mix match six packs are 20% off! They have a membership club with benefits.

This place was hoppin' - the service was exceptional and the seating was great - A bar lines the front 20 foot beer cooler so BA's can sit and gaze at the spectical. Another "L" shaped bar lines the 20+ tap bar. Along with high seated cocktail tables - as well as raised booths.

The cover band was playing on the second floor above the bar - the place is open-air so by "second floor" I mean stage above bar overlooking the whole place. It's pretty cool!

Bottles:
2008 Thomas Hardy's
A ton of Belgiums
Lagunitas Special Frank Zappa Label Collectable

If anything this place is educating the yellow fizzy beer drinker to our side of the fence - demanding quality brew.

I highly recommend this place. I will stop back if I'm ever in Tampa again!

The beer place in Tampa! There are other various places to buy beer but you cannot beat the selection The World of Beer has to offer. The staff is educated in different styles of beer, although when I get to speaking about particulars of beer character they seem to get lost. But again, they don't have to brew them to sell them. I wish there was more seating, but don't we all. Depending on what you get it can get a bit pricey. I wish this place had plaques on the wall for people who have tried over X amount of beers. A place in Houston called the Flying Saucer has this, that place is awesome. You should be able to participate in a "subscription" and it keeps track of the brews you have had, but you can only mark off 3 or 4 beers a day as to not die trying to drink them all in one night. This would be a great boost to The World of Beer I think. Other than the already mentioned this place is it for beer drinkers in the Tampa area.

I can see myself going back. The atmosphere was a little to sportsbar-ish for "lack of better words" for my taste, but I can see where other people would love it. The staff knew enough to get by but I wasnt overly impressed with their knowledge. The selection was awesome having like 400btls and 35+ draft. I noticed alot of 21 to 25 age range crowd which doesnt bother me but it just seemed like everyone was there just to get hammered rather then enjoying the taste of good beer. Again, I can see where some may like that. Overall I would say I will go back every once in awile.

Hands down, if you're in the Tampa Bay area, this is the beer bar you want to visit! The servers are all very friendly, and most know their beer.

World of Beer typically has a high energy crowd and fun music. They do live music a few times a week and it's just a fun place to hang out with friends.

Typically, you'll find 30 beers on draft and a selection of about 300-400 bottles. My only complaint has been the lack of seasonals, but that's been changing over the past few months.

When you're visiting on a busy night, service can be kind of slow. But otherwise, they're quick, friendly and willing to help you choose the right beer.

Food is rather a great point at World of Beer. Tijuana Flats sits next door and there's an Italian place in the shopping center with great pizza (all of which deliver to WoB). Let it be known that World of Beer does not actually serve food, but can provide menus to all the restaurants in the immediate area.

Overall, I'd highly recomment World of Beer as the best beer bar in the Tampa Bay area. There's a few others that are nice, but World of Beer is the best!

Fantastic selection. Comfortable seating(seriously some of the best bar stools ever.) Patio is great. There's bar access from outside although the view is of the street. Great service. Reasonable prices. A must visit for any beer hunter. It's a bit of a sports bar atmosphere and it can get more than a little hectic on a Saturday or Friday night. Trust me this is an afternoon-on-a Saturday kind of place. They sell take away beer and are open late so they are a permanent option for good beer late at night.

I absolutely love this place. It's a great atmosphere with comfortable seating and TVs EVERYWHERE! The staff is very knowledgeable and always eager to help you out. Most drafts are between $5 and $6, but it is more than worth it for top quality product. There's always something new on tap each time I visit (I loved Lagunitas IPA on my last trip). On a downside, it does get extremely crowded on Friday and Saturday, but if you don't mind a lot of noise and standing room only, this is the perfect place.

I really love this bar. Fantastic selection and great presentation. A fun and attractive place to hang out with friends and have a few beers. Beers are served in the appropriate glassware, often it even corresponds with the specific brand of beer. Although this bar can be somewhat crowded at certain times, it's mostly younger professionals. My only complaint is the location, Westchase is annoyingly far from most places in Tampa - including where I live. However, I enjoy going there occasionally and also appreciate that you can create mixed 6 packs to take home. They don't serve food here but you can order takeout from the surrounding establishments- I usually opt for Tijuana Flats.

This place is great, I try to frequent it as much as possible when I visit friends in Tampa. There are 500 bottles to choose from, and their tap always has something different. jim102864's review below describes it perfectly. As previously noted, there is no food here, but tijuana flats is right next door and will deliver to you right at the bar. Depending on who is working there that night, you'll get a decent person who will act as your beer connoisseur. There is also a mixed crowd here as this location is in a ritzy part of town.

Given their scarcity, how strange is it that anyone can write a review never mind a good one about a Florida beer bar? This place is the exception to the rule in that beer wasteland and a sign that the general population in the Tampa area has embraced quality beer. The World of Beer is a small bar on the outskirts of the city of Tampa in an upscale strip mall that you can see a carbon copy of just about everywhere in Florida. I actually drove right by it because it's hidden behind a row of buildings and not easily visible from the street. There are two bars, one at the entrance and another a short distance away along the entire wall that actually extends outdoors to a patio area...very cool idea. The front bar has a 9 door, floor to ceiling cooler loaded from top to bottom with bottled brews. The rear bar also has a similar cooler only somewhat smaller. There are five large flat screens above the rear bar with 30 taps lined up behind the bar and mounted on a brick wall. Nice high ceilings and paddle fans kept the room comfortable. There are also several large flags attached to the ceiling including Duvel, Paulner, HB, Brooklyn and Erdinger...nice touch. The bottled beer list is massive and is presented in a faux leather bound book and weighs about six pounds. The Belgian list is extensive. They also respect presentation and utilize proper glassware. My first was a Val Dieu Triple which was served in a beautiful Goblet with "Abbaye Du Val-Dieu" stenciled on it. Friendly and efficient service during both visits by the staff, but their beer knowledge was surface knowledge at best. I actually returned again the next night before my flight home. No food here, but local restaurants will deliver. My only complaint is the guy playing accoustic music atop the front bar coolers and overlooking the rear bar...too small a space for such volume. Either they should turn it down or give it up since the beer is what makes this place a hot spot. Interesting too that you can buy whatever beer they sell and bring it home. Apparently, the state allows them to do this provided they sell at the price one would pay at the local packy. This is a great place that should be visited if you're in the area.

WOB is a very nice addition to the Tampa beer scene, though it's in an odd location in a small neighborhood village in the western portion of Hillsborough County. They have an excellent selection of beer, especially in bottles, and about 30 taps with no crap. Drafts are served in their corresponding glassware when there is one, and I thought that a nice touch. The bottle selection is similiar to what you'll see at their retail store in Clearwater. Service has been a little spotty on several previous visits, though a good crowd both times may be playing a role in that. They serve no food, but a place next door has good mexican fare and their menu is available at the bar - call them on your cell and the waitstaff will deliver your food right to the bar. Nice touch.

Overall, definitely worth a visit if you can find your way there.

I went here because I was suprised to see such a place in Tampa.
Atmoshpere: Sucked, very trendy, I probably won't go back unless I wan't to pick something up to go.
Quality: Looked decent, no AMC.
Service: Not very good, my buddy am I sat for about 20 mins before someone approavhed us, and then we had to find her to get our check and bounce.
Selection: The only reason I would ever go back is because of the selection. There were 30 taps, and tons of bottles, I would guess about 300 or so.
Food: Didn't try.
Vaule: Some were dirt cheap ($2.50 or DFH 60 min) and others were rediculiously expensive (>$20 for Imperial XS Rogues).
Don't drink and reivew.

Moving from Philadephia - which in the last few years has become a beer Mecca, to Tampa worried me. Why? I feared I'd be drinking nothing but Budweiser. Welcome to World of Beer, a great selection, atmosphere and simply a good time. They have some good selections on tap, changing every two weeks or so, and a kick ass take out bottle area. Bartenders and nice and know beer too. Some are young, but with time I'm sure they'll mature their tastes. Only downfall is the crowds on Friday and Saturday nights. I'm sure they aren't complaining, but standing around a loud bar enjoying a nice Belgian is always my cup of tea. But, that being said, you'll find me there at least one night every weekend.

World of Beer Clearwater now has a Tampa Location. Picture World of Beer....now tack on a bar and jazz the decor up a little....oila World of Beer, Tampa. Between Mellow Mushroom on Sheldon and this place (with Tank’s Tap Room also adding taps and getting crazy into beer) North Tampa is starting to be the place to be beer wise.

The downside is the same down side with World of Beer Clearwater...no Fantome, No Cantillon (even though they can get both), few special orders, but still they have a sick selection of bottles and a solid draft selection...Saxo on tap was nice to see.

If this place gets excited about bringing a few of the rarer things they could get if they asked....it could be one of the best beer bars in the country.
