A great WOB, super friendly staff, good tap list and solid food offerings. They also catch a good amount of allocation from the Tampa area. Never had a bad experience in this place!

Went here with family on a Sunday afternoon and it was a rowdy football crowd (not complaining). Got to sit outside and this allowed my dad to enjoy a cigar so that was a bonus. Server busted her @ss and was knowledgeable as well so no complaints there. Selection is spot on with local beers that I have never heard to try as well as some domestics on tap that I can't find anywhere. No really diamonds in the rough or foreign imports so this isn't going to be that kind of beer bar, but guaranteed you'll find something and the prices are pretty low which is a plus.

WOB is a seriously great place to get your hands on beers you just couldn't know exist. Weekend night crowds are expectedly thick, but with beers in hand you'll be in good spirit.

I think the reviews already given here say it all. The only thing that I would add, or emphasis because someone did mention it, is that it doesn't really look like the other World of Beer locations. It's smaller, a little less polished, louder (perhaps because of the size, or perhaps because of the crowd - it seems like the young crowd comes here to party, bouncing back and forth across the street with Maloney's), and more like a sports bar (that also has live music). Behind the bar looks great with 9 stainless steel glass front cooler doors of bottles, and multiple taps lined up - just as you'd expect, and I do like the outdoor seating as well. It's comfortable, and shaded after noon, although it could be a little more scenic considering it looks out at Linebaugh Avenue. In the end I'd give it a try, at least you'll be able to get some good beer. Note: you can also get food brought in to you from the neighboring shops.

Located in a newer shopping plaza in Westchase. The place has a bunch of TVs for watching sports events, high tables and chairs and the bar section. The staff is very knowledgeable for the most part and they make sure you are being served and you have everything you need. The selection is excellent, this place has beers from all around the world and a bunch of hard to find stuff can be found here. Prices are reasonable and similar to other places of this kind. From time to time they have events such as small bands playing and such.

Recommended for those looking for a good beer selection from around the world.

This bar is located in what looks like a small upscale shopping center. It does have that generic sports bar look, and on a quiet Saturday afternoon, the music was too loud. Still, it had a nice feel to it. Entering, there's a cooler with a ton of bottled beers on the left and a few high top tables on the right. The bar proper is in a little further, on the left, with a small alcove on the right. There's a loft for private parties above the bar. An outdoor patio that looks over a busy street completes the picture. Several TVs, lots of beer memorabilia decorate the place. WOB only serves beer, but you can order off of menus from any of a half dozen local restaurants, and they will deliver your food to you in the bar.

The selection is huge: 30 beers on tap and 400 or so bottles. You can buy beers to go and you can mix and match 6packs, but you can't get any growlers. The tap selection was varied enough that I had difficulty choosing which beers I wanted. My wife was happy because they had a selection of hefes and fruity beers, which she enjoys.

Despite the fact that our server looked about twelve years old, she was courteous, efficient, and very knowledgeable. The place was moderately busy, and she was the only one working, but kept up well.

I will make sure I visit WOB whenever I visit my daughter in Tampa.

I visited here a couple times when in town on business the past couple of months. The service is hit-or-miss, I've had terrific bartenders and some ones who seemed like the would rather hit their dick with a sledgehammer than develop a personality or report with customers. The atmosphere is okay, a little sterile and generic "beer bar" type of feel. The selection is great, but the prices are a little silly sometimes. There aren't a lot of viable alternatives in the area, and you can find about any beer you really want here, but prepare to have uninspired service at higher-than-they-should-be prices.

Tried this place out while visiting for the holidays. Definitely a large selection of beers, seemed a bit inflated on the prices, though. It has a "corporate" feel to it that I am not accustomed to in the beer bar world. The staff seemed to warm up after staying there a while, but still seemed to lack a passion for what they do. I realize its work, but I appreciate those who enjoy running a beer bar and have a solid knowledge of beer. In the end, this place felt more like a sports bar/club, but with a huge selection of beers.

I came by this place when it first opened, and I was blown out of the water, but in the past year or so I have been a number of times and been severely disappointed. I have never been to a place with so many taps, and nothing I want to drink (90 Minute and Maharaja being the rarest I have seen)- Theobrama seems WAY out of place. I saw their WOBtoberfest ads and I realized that it was more like a dance club comes with decent beer. LOTS of younger people and when it is not Sunday afternoon it is HARD to get a pour, talk, or sit. Not bad for Belgians, but its hit or miss if the server knows beer. It is not Beer Geek Oz, if that's what you're looking for, keep driving- more like Kansas.

I remember going to this place after it first opened up. It was fantastic. I thought to myself "finally a great beer bar and bottle shop in my neck of the woods!" The place was busy but never crowded on the weekend nights and almost dead during the week. How times have changed. You can't go to this place without plowing your way through people. And the clientele are different too. Now I am biased, I'm a beer geek. So the fact that it's the "in" crowd and yuppies makes me a little miffed but all in all it's still great people. I just don't know 50% of the people in there any given night anymore. The selection is the best in town on draft and very good for bottles. If you are visiting north Tampa and need a good beer on draft this is your place. One note they don't serve food but there are a couple of restaurants in the area that will bring it in or you can pick it up.

My folks live in Tampa these days and this is pretty much the best beer bar in the area, and I tried pretty much all of them listed here on BA.

There are about a couple dozen beers on tap, with some interesting ones that rotate through, but the biggest selection is in the bottles with a huge (hundreds) assortment. It has tons of high quality domestics, a la Dogfish, Brooklyn, Bell's, Stoudt's, Avery, etc... And it also has tons of Belgians and smaller selection of other imports. Impressive selection.

Service is always great when I've been there, even when it gets absolutely mobbed on the weekends. Beware, this is a scene on Fri and Sat night. It will be packed.

Beer is available for purchase to go and prices are pretty damn good, but that's probably because I'm coming from SF where stuff is uber expensive.

Well worth a trip in the Tampa area

Hands down, if you're in the Tampa Bay area, this is the beer bar you want to visit! The servers are all very friendly, and most know their beer.

World of Beer typically has a high energy crowd and fun music. They do live music a few times a week and it's just a fun place to hang out with friends.

Typically, you'll find 30 beers on draft and a selection of about 300-400 bottles. My only complaint has been the lack of seasonals, but that's been changing over the past few months.

When you're visiting on a busy night, service can be kind of slow. But otherwise, they're quick, friendly and willing to help you choose the right beer.

Food is rather a great point at World of Beer. Tijuana Flats sits next door and there's an Italian place in the shopping center with great pizza (all of which deliver to WoB). Let it be known that World of Beer does not actually serve food, but can provide menus to all the restaurants in the immediate area.

Overall, I'd highly recomment World of Beer as the best beer bar in the Tampa Bay area. There's a few others that are nice, but World of Beer is the best!

Moving from Philadephia - which in the last few years has become a beer Mecca, to Tampa worried me. Why? I feared I'd be drinking nothing but Budweiser. I knew I would miss Monk's Cafe, but wheb The World of Beer (WOB)pened within walkin distance to my house, I knew it was sa sign.

WOB has many good selections on tap, changing every two weeks or so, and a kick ass take out bottle area. Bartenders and nice and know beer too. Some are young, but with time I'm sure they'll mature their tastes. Only downfall is the crowds on Friday and Saturday nights get a bit too large for my laid back taste. I'm sure they aren't complaining, but standing around a loud bar enjoying a nice Belgian isn't always my cup of tea. But, that being said, you'll find me there at least one night every week and almost every Friday.

Pretty upscale place, but it is in a newer area of Tampa. Wide mix of ages from early 20's to mid 40's. Music selections varied through the night. Nice tv's all around. Beer selection for a "bar" was impressive. The number of fine beers on tap was also surprising. St. Bernardus, Delirium Tremens, Wittekerke, and Red Sky at Night. A little up there in price, but worth it for all these beers in one place. Basically drove from Tallahassee to Tampa for a place like this, worth the drive.

This is basically World of Beer with a very upscale bar attached to it. It is a full service bottle shop. The decor is very nice and it's definitely the kind of place you want to hang out in. Very modern and tastefully done. The space is a touch on the small side, but that actually adds to the ambiance and makes it feel more personal.

The beer selection is good, but it is VERY FAR from being world class. Saxo and Val Dieu are about the most adventerous beers on draft. The rest of the lineup is made up of safe selections such as Flying Dog Tire Bite, Young's Double Chocolate, Sea Dog Blueberry Wheat, Kostritzer, Paulaner Hefe and the like....all decent enough, but all availible all over town and it's all stuff the average beer geek has had a zillion times.

The Mellow Mushroom, around the corner on Sheldon, for example puts on rarer stuff for the most part. You can't get Fantome, Cantillon and there are none of the higher abv rare American craft beers (like Avery) to be had on draft. Special order brews and limited release stuff can't be found like they can at the countries great beer bars.

If the selection improves this bar could compete with any in the country as it definitely has the "cool" vibe down pat. Go during happy hour and drinks are incredibly affordable and are very reasonable even at full price.

For a trendy atmosphere and a place to go beer shopping while having a beer it can't be beat. But, for the best draft beer selection in Town others have them beat as it stands today.

For everyone anywhere near Tampa Florida, or just visiting, The World of Beer Bar (www.theworldofbeer.com) is clearly the best true beer bar around, and probably one of the tops in the nation at the moment. They have taken their experience with great brews and opened this bar with 30 of the finest beers on tap, and they are constantly changing as some are quite uncommon and not readily available. Of course they have over 300 different bottles there as well. They have a store in Clearwater, but this is the bar in the Westchase area of Tampa that also includes a small storefront if you don't have time to relax and spend a few hours.

There is no tap over $6, so this is very reasonable compared to some places that charge up to $8 or more for the same brews. They do not serve food, but some of the local places may bring it over to you, and it is welcome.

We were there on a Saturday night and it was really busy, but I was able to get drinks in a reasonable time as the bar staff was really busting their butts to serve the customers. Chairs are very comfortable and there are TV's around the bar. Definitely the best beer place in town, and maybe the country.
