I checked this place out while on vacation after reading the reviews on this site. I thoroughly enjoyed myself there. The combined coffee house, beer garden was an interesting atmosphere that worked suprisingly well. The selection of beers is great for how many he carries (maybe 120? forgive me if I'm wrong). Absolutely no macros, and you can make your own six pack. They are getting new beers in daily now that we PTC. The owner is really revelling in the new beers that are now pouring into SC, I had the Double Dog Pale Ale on tap. While he carries imports he said that he really hopes to support American brews, which he likes the best. That the food is great too is the finishing touch. Overall, great place and very friendly people - I highly recommend!

I checked this place out while on vacation after reading the reviews on BA. As stated previously, the place is a combination coffee house/beer garden and is located in a small strip mall on Hwy 17 just south of Murrells Inlet. The crowd when I visited was a good mix of beer drinkers and the "Starbucks" type. The bottled beer selection is great for SC. They only have a few taps however. I had the Double Dog IPA on tap and it was great. I highly recommend stopping by when you are in the area.

Tried to find this place my first day in town but it didn't look open, so we passed by and I swore to call later. I did try to call 3-4 more times over the next few days to no avail. I was starting to think that Blackwater Brews was no longer on the agenda. I happened to be out for lunch, when I decided to just check it out in person, while I waited for my lunch order to be prepared from a pizza place in Garden City. Walked in and spoke with Jamey briefly while checking out the selection.
Atmosphere is that of a coffee shop that you find in a strip mall. Nothing fancy as you walk in with a few tables and chairs in the front walk. To the right is a shelved area with some room temp micros and some wine. It's all fresh and new with obvious turnaround on the product. There were also about 3 large coolers with 2 being occupied by a mix of micros, and a small offering of imports from the UK, Germany, and Belgium. The one cooler will be cleared to make more seating area. There is also a little room, which I called the "Tea Room Batcave". That is where our group converged during our visit later in the night. Interesting paintings on the wall, along with other decorations in this room make for a retro-hippie/southern rock/country home/Indian tea room feel...if any of that made sense. Still, I was feeling it and I enjoyed it.
The quality of the brews was obviously kept fresh. I opted for one of the 4 beers he had on draft at the time (Atlanta Brewing Brick Red, Flying Doug Double Dog, New South White, Sam Adams Oktoberfest) and it was nice and fresh. I also opted for a bottle of Ommegang, which was perfect.
Jamey was the only one serving but he did an outstanding job at knowing what his product was and making recommendations for the few beers that I hadn't had yet.
The selection...I'm calling it "good" right now. Being that SC recently popped the abv cap, the market needs time to develop first. I give this gentleman credit for being a pioneer in the area and showing some cajones to man-up when most of his neighbors aren't willing to do so. I would expect his selection to grow with the market and the word of mouth spreading the good news that he offers single bottles for purchase. He told me that he's brought in a few Belgian brews and they didn't do well. That will change when the masses come. I would hope to see Westmalle Dubbel, & Tripel, Saint Bernardus Pater 6, Prior 8, abt 12, Rochefort 8, and 10, along with De Dolle Stille Nacht...he does have Chimay, which was one of my gateway Belgians. Who knows? Maybe next time I visit, there will be a dedicated tap for rotating Belgian brews, along with a hand pump for cask conditioned ales. That's what I'm talking about!
I didn't get a chance to check out any of the coffee, wine, or small food selections, which he whips up to order.
Prices were decent. I picked up the tab on my party's bill. We had 3 drafts, 1 coffee, and 2 bottles in-house. I also got 4 bottles to go, all for under $30. Try coming to PA and paying under $45 for all that.
How many places do you know that offer coffee, tea, wine, and bottled & draft beer in one location...along with live music, and other entertainment? I'll be back!

The only place in Myrtle Beach area I found with Belgians, Victory, Great Divide, Alagash, and many other of what I'm used to buying in Mass. Thank god, SC is a wasteland of boring beer still, despite the law changes. The a/c was broken, so it was real hot there, but we survived. They allow six-pack mixing, but the prices are crazy. I paid $4.00 for a 12 oz. of Titan IPA! That's how desperate I was. Also bought some Golden Monkey, Hop Devil, Chimay Tripel and Duvel. All the bottles price wise were outrageous, but on my 4th day on the Grand Strand, I would have paid anything for the good stuff. The woman working there kept referring to High Gravity beers; not familiar with what that means, but you can only mix certain types of bottles to make up a six pack. They also have wine, and do serve deli sandwiches. My hat is off to this business for bringing great beer to the Grand Strand, but they are charging way too much. Nice to have no competitors I guess.
Located right on 17 bypass southbound side next to the TBones restaurant in Murrels Inlet, between Brookgreen Gardens and the Myabi Japanese Restaurant (which has Corona listed as a Premium Beer!).

This place is right across 17 from the old Royal Oak bar.
This place has an eclectic feel to it. The owner lived in Asheville and it certainly has that Asheville ambiance. The beer looks good and fresh. No dust on the bottles. The place looks fairly new. The owner is a great guy and is both knowledgable and passionate about beer. There's plenty of bottles. You can mix your own sixer and they have four taps. If I'd had known of the taps then I'd allowed more time to visit this place. The taps were. Highland Tasgall, Flying Dog Double Dog, a New South brew and I forgot the fourth. The prices seemed reasonable.
If you are vacationing in the Myrtle Beach area this place is worth the drive down 17. It is a beer destination worth seeking out in a beer starved area. IMO it's both the best tap and take home selection in the area.

Blackwater Brews is hands down the best place on the Grand Strand (ie for many miles in any direction) to get craft brewed beer. All their beer is in bottles, none on tap, but they carry all the worthy bottles distributors offer for SC, over 140 beers (none macro) the last time I checked.

The proprietors are also genuinely enthusiastic about beer appreciation, a rare trait in the area for now. Blackwater Brews is a great place for people to learn about beer, though, so maybe it'll help turn the tide a bit.

You can also get coffee & sandwiches there. The coffee is fair trade, & the sandwiches are good. They also serve tea, bagels, some desserts, smoothies, etc.

You can have beer there: they will pour it for you in chilled glasses; or you can grab a six pack out of their coolers on your way somewhere. They have entertainment on weekend nights. It's non-smoking, unless you step out front. The lights are a bit bright, but they cut the overheads off in the evenings for more of that beer drinking ambience we all crave.
