Finally got to check this place out yesterday as a belated birthday present from my family

Located on Main Street in a really cool part of Seal Beach next to several other bars and restaurants, near the ocean, does not look like a beer hot spot from the outside

This place was tiny with like ten tables total, but by the looks of the wall, they will be expanding some time very soon, cool athmosphere and everybody seems real excited and relaxed, the owner and beer guy, Gabe is a real cool as well

Unfortunately, the two beers I planned on trying today ran out right before we got there, St. Bernardus Wit and Moonlight Twist of Fate, but I was not worried about it after I tasted the different Rubicon beers I ordered

I had a Rubicon Black Capricorn black IPA and a Monkey Knife Fight pale ale, and an Ommegang Hennepin saison farmhouse ale, prices were around six dollars a pint which is a bit pricy

Only had ten taps or so and other consisted of Victory Prima pilsner, Stone Double Bastard, Unibroe Trois Pistoles, Alesmith Nautical Nut Brown and Speedway Stout

Place was super clean and our waitress was on top of things the entire time, knowledgable about beer too, she even gave us four different tasters before we ordered

Nice selection of beer for such few taps, have had some beauties here in the past like Moonlight Reality Czeck, some hard to find Lost Abbey stuff, and rare tap only beers from Bear Republic

Food was awesome as well, had 1/2 chicken and beef brisket with sweet potato fries, hushpuppies, corn on the cob, and cranberry cornbread, all for only fifteen dollars

I cannot wait to go back to this place, especially now that I know it is less than a half hour from my parent's house, so when I come visit them, it will become a frequent trip like Naja's is

Very highly recommended and one of the best food and beer combinations I found here on Beer Advocate

Update: Gabe is the one of the coolest guys in the craft beer world and this is the best damn food you will have!

Outstanding food and guest tap list. I loved this place, I just wish they had more than one of there own beers left the day i arrived. That said the many beers they did offer were carefully chosen and dynamite. I had to visit the longbeach location to enjoy their beer, and that place was also worth the trip. Best Gastropub i've been to, I see why the have been ranked #1 in that category for multiple years!

Great food, great tap list, and you can almost find RR on tap. Can get a little cramped at times though.

Beachwood is my local(ish) watering hole and I am lucky to be within 5 miles of it, as it's likely my favorite beer bar in the US. The quality of the beers on draft is unparalleled. Add to that limited taps (more new beer all the time), awesome events (Sour Fest, anyone?), and extremely knowledgeable bartenders (Vito is the man!), and you have the best place to grab a beer in Southern California. The bar seats about 12-13 so it can be a bit hard to get a seat when they're busy, but the bartenders are always happy to serve the standing crowd (plus, there's a thin bar so you can set your drink down if you do happen to be standing). Most of the food is pretty damn good too.

The Seal Beach location is the original Beachwood BBQ, and its success is what brought about the Long Beach BBQ and Brewery location. They publish their current tap list on their website through an internet connected "hopcam." They typically have 24-26 beers on tap at any given time, which are fairly small production beers that beer geeks will appreciate. I've been to beer bars all around the country, and this truly is one of the best in terms of beers selection and food.

The food: this is straight up BBQ, with a fancy twist. Nothing pretentious, just a twist that shows the owner's background in the restaurant business. Beyond the regular menu, they have a "wild game" menu that involves things like ostrich, buffalo and alligator. Unfortunately, one of the best things -- no, THE best thing -- that they have had on the menu was recently take off: the mushroom stew. I hope that enough people chime up on this decision to get them to bring it back. It was epic.

Beers: They do a good job of representing most beer styles on their tap list, and they often get some pretty rare kegs on the board. The funky and sour selection isn't quite what it used to be in years past. I believe the owner is now hoarding most good sours for the biennial sour fest, which is a week long amazing event. They also regularly do small beer/food pairing dinners with breweries. They're not cheap at all, but they're small, intimate, and good.

In Orange County for business so based on a recommendation from you fine BA's I drove up to Seal Beach. I really liked the location of Beachwood on main street and just a couple steps from the beach. Also I have to say they have a very cool logo. I had their chips and dip (good), andouille sausage (good), brisket (meh), fried green tomatoes (meh), and blue cheese grits (tasty). I honestly expected a little more out of the brisket, I've had much better from a smoker parked outside a gas station near my work. Service was fine, waitress was very friendly and the beer selection was quite good. Several hoppy IPA's to choose from, several Beachwood beers, and some Belgians as well. I would definitely go back but probablyjust to drink and get some grits, I'd skip the brisket.
