stopped in here after my visit to disneyland, and boy was i surprised. woodshop isn't disneyland? bullshit. people had talked them up the night before and their q was pretty decent for a catered event so we made the venture. excellent tap selection, of course, the camera on the menu, brilliant. we only missed the younger by a week. ah well. fried pickles for the first time, sexy beer on tap, i got to try the stone chipotle porter on the cask. and the barbecue was just outstanding. service was good and seemed to be so for everyone else there even though they were slammed. if i lived in socal, i'd live in their dumpster. only downside is the bar looked a bit tight if it were to be crowded.

Beachwood is my local(ish) watering hole and I am lucky to be within 5 miles of it, as it's likely my favorite beer bar in the US. The quality of the beers on draft is unparalleled. Add to that limited taps (more new beer all the time), awesome events (Sour Fest, anyone?), and extremely knowledgeable bartenders (Vito is the man!), and you have the best place to grab a beer in Southern California. The bar seats about 12-13 so it can be a bit hard to get a seat when they're busy, but the bartenders are always happy to serve the standing crowd (plus, there's a thin bar so you can set your drink down if you do happen to be standing). Most of the food is pretty damn good too.
