Poured into a Chicago Bears pint glass (as training camp begins next week).
Aroma: quite subtle melanoidins and not much else. Dark bread/crust notes that are certainly appropriate but rather subdued. A bit of alcohol manifests itself as the beer warms on this July day.
Appearance: rich, deep, brilliantly clear dark reddish-brown: beautiful! Slight yet persistent light tan head.
Taste: melanoidins much more upfront than the aroma. Nice dark bread crust-like roasted malt character that persists through the tasting experience with a finish of alcohol and hop bitterness for balance. Nice!
Mouthfeel: medium-full body with medium carbonation. Nice/smooth velvety character.
Overall: this is a pretty damn good dopplebock. Only knock is the quite subdued aroma. Tasty!

This beer was better than I thought that it would be. I really liked the heavy taste that it uad. I wish that this beer was still at the bar that I go to. I wish that it was still around. If it was still around I know that I would buy myself a case or two.

Perfect amber brown in color with almost no head and a thin white collar. Aroma is caramel malt and toasted nuts. Taste is a good crisp caramel maltiness, toffee, and nuttiness again. Light body and low to medium carbonation. Pretty good, but not what I think of in a doppelbock.
