Notes & Commercial Description:
Beer added by: BeerAdvocate on 12-16-2001

An American-style wheat ale brewed with malted. Low hopping rates allow the refreshing aroma and citrus flavor of a late addition of lemon grass to dominate. This unfiltered beer retains all of its protein, flavor, and some of its yeast, resulting in a traditionally cloudy appearance.

A: The beer is rather hazy yellow in color and has a high amount of visible carbonation with lots of large bubbles ascending near the sides of the glass. It poured with a two finger high white head that gradually died down, leaving a large pillow of bubbles in the center of the glass and a collar around the edge.
S: Light to moderate aromas of wheat are present in the nose along with some notes of lemongrass and hints of grainy malts.
T: The taste follows the smell, but the flavors of lemongrass are stronger and just about as strong as those of the wheat.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied and slightly chewy on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer is easy to drink and the lemongrass helps to balance things out, cutting into the raw wheat and also lending some interesting flavors.

Pours a hazy gold, producing a somewhat lasting, foamy, white head that leaves slim motes, streaks & wisps of lace. Aroma is sweet wheat, lemony citrus & a hint of grass. Taste is a tug-of-war between wheat, lemon & mineral water prickly carbonation with hint of grain & grass. Tongue numbing mineral/carbonation bite in the finish blocks the flavors which reappear as mineral, wheat & lemon in the aftertaste. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with intense carbonation, crisp, very prickly but creamy among the spice bite. This pale wheat ale screams Berliner Weissbier.

This is a pretty typical wheat beer, though a bit heavier on the citrus than most. Not my favorite style, but certainly very drinkable.
