Poured from a 12 ounce bottle into a beer mug.
Appearance: Beer is a dark mahogany with definite ruby highlights. Head is nowhere to be found - just a ring of foam around the edge of the glass.
Smell: Though there isn't a great deal of strength to the nose, what *is* detectable is very unusual, and endearing. A very nice toasty, sweet malt base gently holds the bitter hop scent. On top of this is a soft drizzling of, yes, maple syrup. In a brown ale...this works very well. Just wish there were more force in the scent, but all in all, not bad.
Taste/Mouthfeel: I feel very conflicted. Beer is syrupy at first, which I guess is no surprise, with a bit of a sour twang which is not unpleasant, but definitely unexpected. There's a plum-like sweetness, and as the light carbonation unfolds on the tongue, some of that toasty malt comes through. Gentle bitterness near the end of the sip, and an oddly sour-bitter-sweet aftertaste rounds everything out. Not bad...but where's the maple? Where's the nut? That's half of the flavor that just isn't there.
Overall: Slightly above average. I wouldn't really recommend this beer to anyone, but I WOULD like to try another maple beer, if there exists one.

Good nut brown color with thin light tan collar, decent lacing. Aroma is maple sweetness, and a nutty-caramel aroma as well. Taste is also nutty, caramel with the maple taking a big presence. Thin body for a brown and low carbonation. Needs a better malt backbone and maybe some more hops both up front and at the end.

I poured this beer into my tumbler at 45 degrees. The beer was a nice amber color. and poured a nice tan head. I was afraid of this one after tasting their imperial nut Brown which I did not like. This I must say is much better in my opinion and actually you can taste the beer and not the high ABV of the imperial. The beer had a nice maple taste and was really good. I will buy this one again.
