A: Poured from the bottle (best by date is in September; consumed July 5, 2013) into a pint glass. Body is black with a 1-finger tannish-colored head that leaves behind nice lacing.
S: Roasty - coffee, roasted barley malt and some earthiness. Smells like a porter.
T: Interesting mix of flavors - coffee, some chocolate malt, earthy hops and piney hops, with a touch of rye spice. I like. Lingering piney bitterness and the rye comes across as minerally at times.
M: A tiny bit thin in heft - call it medium, but on the thinner/weaker side. Carbonation is moderate, with a good overall mouthfeel.
O: Good stuff.
