$1.23 single.

Appearance (3.75) : dark cranberry/currant red body with a frothy 1 finger head that dissipates to a ring within a minute. Opacity is near 90%.

Smell (4) : Pumpkin flesh, maple, cinnamon, nutmeg, faint clean chlorinated water. An overall smell of a pumpkin pie baking in the oven is dominant.

Taste (3.75) : a little sour, watery. Aftertaste is of clove and pumpkin, and if you leave it in your mouth a few seconds the pumpkin pie flavor takes hold. A little ginger and nutmeg. It gets better the more you drink it. The aftertaste is great - spiced cinnamon pumpkin pie, and it stays with you. Better straight out of the bottle so more carbonation hits.

Mouthfeel (1.75) : kills it for me. Watery and soupy. Almost no body, and finishes like Aquafina. Slight carbonation. Better carbonation out of the bottle.

Overall (3.29) : the taste, smell, and appearance aren't half bad but the mouthfeel is totally absent in body, depth, and dimension. It's literally like spiced water. Not sure if I'd pick it up again, it may be worth a dollar but that's about it for me. Try it though, you might like it if you like light bodied beers.

Best by 1/5/15. 12oz bottle poured into a pint glass. Pours a deep brown with a small tan head that fades very quickly and leaves decent lacing and retention. It doesn't have a sexy appearance for the most part. The aromas aren't bad. The aromas are actually the standout for me. Lots of vanilla and cinnamon. Nutmeg and ginger is there. Some caramel malts in the mix. Subtle hints of cocoa. The flavors have lots of spices and malts. It's not really watered down, but it just feels incomplete. Lots of grains too. It's not that spicy. Alcohol goes unnoticed. Mouthfeel is light with active carbonation. I will say this becomes more enjoyable as it warms.

This is a forgettable take on the style. I actually think Tommyknocker gets a bad rap and makes decent beers sometimes, but this isn't one of them. This isn't even that bad, but it doesn't hold its own against other examples of the style.

12oz. bottle poured into a tulip. Best by Feb 3, 2014. * was consumed before this date

(A)- Pours a very dark mahogany amber color. Some off-white froth and lacing.

(S)- Some nice rich combos of rustic spices and creamy pumpkin.

(T)- Quite dry and grainy with some subtle spices, though not much pumpkin to speak of. Some subtle dark fruits.

(M)- A good carbonation level. A nice subtle richness to the background with the proper seasonal spices, just lacing the pumpkin flavor one should expect from the style.

(O)- Not bad, but there is plenty of room for improvement. Lacking alot of actual pumpkin in all categories.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, best before 2/3/2014. Pours lightly hazy deep ruby brown color with a 1 finger dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of pumpkin, caramel, brown sugar, toast, biscuit, light chocolate, nutmeg, cinnamon, clove, light ginger, herbal, and toasted earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of malt, spice, and pumpkin notes; with solid strength. Taste of pumpkin, caramel, brown sugar, toast, biscuit, light chocolate, cinnamon, nutmeg, light clove, light ginger, herbal, and toasted earthiness. No bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of pumpkin, caramel, brown sugar, toast, biscuit, light chocolate, nutmeg, herbal, and toasted earthiness on the finish for good bit. Nice balance, complexity, and robustness of pumpkin, malt, and light-moderate spice flavors; with no cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a moderately creamy and smooth mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a nice pumpkin ale. All around good robustness and balance of malt, pumpkin, and spice flavors; and very smooth to drink. A nicely enjoyable offering.
