IM sampling a cellar temp 12 oz bottle poured into a snifter. The beer pours a bright clear copper hue with a bleached white head of .5 cm that fades to a sturdy edge layer fairly quickly after the pour.
The aroma is slightly tart almost like a Flanders Ale. Didnt expect that from this beer. There is also a bit of graininess and that is about it, with the nose being fairly mild.
First sip reveals a fairly light body with fine and tingly carbonation that tickles my palate after each sip. The flavor is sweet grain and a bit of light fruit with maybe white grape or white wine notes. Finishes with a tartness overall but still a mild piece here. The beer is an easy drinker, but the tartness could make it slightly less sessionable.
I enjoy the beer but wouldnt chase it down and not sure I would want more than one at a setting since the tartness is purging my palate.
An okay beer but not something outstanding and the tartness may turn off lots of other folks at the onset of a sampling.

a - phenolic. musty. looking for esters but covered by phenols. no hops. no DMS. hint of orange rind as it warms.

a - thin white head dissipates quickly. small tight bubbles lace. pale orange with slight haze.

f – lactic acid dominates. citrus pith comes in late. earthy hops. all overpowered by lactic acid tartness.

m – high carbonation. effervescent. dry but not as dry as expected.

o – this is a beautiful beer. unfortunately it does not live up to its looks. acidic tartness is appropriate but not at this level. looking for more fruity esters, more citrus, less lactic. to me this reads as a sour.

Pours a lightly hazy pale golden color, with small white head even on aggressive pour. Hardly any lace left behind.

Aroma is some lightly sweet grainy malts, some tart fruits pineapple juice and pear mainly. Some light earthy notes and light spice from the yeast. No real horse blanket notes.

Taste is crisp and tart fruity notes again mingled with light pep. middle sweetens some with some grainy malts, no real wheat notes as in most saison's. Finish is lingering fruit notes and spice. Again no real funk in the taste, tart notes all tent to be fruity.

Mouthfeel is least good for the style light side with nice crisp carbonation.

Overall sorry to see our distributor pick up Tommyknockers as there are many better brewers they could get plus they are selling it at a premium don't see it going over for an average brewery when better beers can be had for less.

From The Fridge's cooler to my reefer to my glass in an effort to beat the oppressive heat. No guarantees that it will work, but perhaps if I am insensate, it won't bother me so much.

From the bottle: "Colorado Mountain Town Craft Beer"; "A bright golden effervescent brew that is slightly tart with a spicy aroma"; "Tommyknocker Legend [-] Tommyknockers slipped into the mining camps of Idaho Springs in the 1800s with the discovery of gold in our mountains and streams. These mischievous elves, though hardly ever seen, were often heard singing and working. They guided many fortunate miners from harm's way and to the gold they sought."

Is this beer "Nice" as in "Wow, baby, you got some nice ditty-dats!" or "Nice" as in Nice, France?

I had a rocky finger of bone-white head that withered in the oppressive heat and humidity of the day and it is still early! The heat is not record-breaking, but it is back-breaking and ball-busting and I will do all that I can to beat it. Color was a slightly hazy orangish-yellow. Nose was musty with yeast, like the time we went into "Uncle" Ben Nutto's attic to clear out old newspapers and magazines prior to an estate sale following his being put into a home after "Aunt" Eva died. The beer smelled just like old newspapers. Mouthfeel was medium and the taste was dry, like white wine, very vinous, yet with a yeast-driven mustiness that left me smacking my lips. The finish was extremely dry and now I was getting a lemony taste that puckered me up like I had been drinking alum. Holy Pucker, Batman! I could barely unlock my lips to get in another sip. It was not really my choice of style, but a good example of the style.
