330ml pour on-draught @ the brewpub for 45000 VND (triple the usual local beer price).
Czech style pilsener. Year-round offering (one of the brewpub's 3 mainstays). 16 EBC. 32 Bitterness Units. 5.00% ABV.
Oddly, their menu implies this is brewed with Kiwi hops and Australian specialty malts. Should be an interesting pilsener...
HEAD: 2ish cm wide. Off-white colour.
BODY: Clear yellow of below average vibrance. No yeast or lees are visible within. Obviously filtered.
Looks decent for a pilsner.
AROMA: Barely anything detectable, at least not to my long-broken nose. A hint of generic pilsner malt is all I find.
No hops, no yeast, no specialty malts.
TASTE: Pilsner malts with a subdued blip of tropical character. Balanced but shockingly shallow for a pilsner. It's easy drinking, but there just isn't much here.
TEXTURE: Smooth, wet, light-bodied, somewhat refreshing, slightly overcarbonated.
Not oily, gushed, hot, boozy, astringent, rough, scratchy, or dragging.
OVERALL: Drinkable forgettable fare. It's absolutely better than the vast majority of Vietnamese lagers, but then is that really saying much? I'd happily get it again were the price more in line with local standards (rather than catering to the drunk Russian tourist demographic that frequents this brewpub). Certainly worth going for when in the area.

330mL pour at the brewpub. From notes.
A - Poured a nice golden straw colour. Bright with good carbonation. Nice finger of white soapy head. Really thick drapes of lace and half finger of retention.
S - Herbal, citrus, floral, good gentle tropical fruit.
T - Grassy with a nice herbal note. Tropical notes were pretty evident. Good earthiness as well. Malt was light but well integrated. The hop flavours were diverse and quite nice.
M - Good carbonation, nice gentle bitterness, light to medium body.
O/D - A really nice pils. Great example of the style. Properly hopped and really drinkable. A lovely treat in a beer wasteland as well. Good job by the Vietnamese guys!
