Imperial pint in a dimpled mugs at "f/stop Fitzgeralds" bar in Salem. $4.00
Nice copper coloured ale with a off white inch high head that sticks.
Good English hop profile for a while then the usual PNW takes over..strong malty caramel.
Nice tasty yet balanced beer..gret hop profile balanced by a chewy maltiness.
Very nice on the tongue ..complex yet goes smooth.
Overall a very drinkable well made PNW ESB..

A fine ESB that deviates somewhat from the English version it is trying to emulate. Dark amber with a two finger head and plentiful lacings. Aroma is dark floral hops, some caramel.
Taste is dark bitter euro and Northwest hops, sweet rich dark malts make for a well balanced ESB. The hops are slightly too citrus but that didn't detract from the enjoyment at all. Modest carbonation. Good mouthfeel.
Good session brew at 5.5%abv.

Riverdog is a beer with the kind of attitude problem I can really appreciate. It makes a strong showing of Willamette and Cascade hops in a punky yeast environment that draws to a sharp close. It shows standard coloring and body and the yeasted aroma arrives only after coaxing.
Lots of zest and tangy flavor here. It strays a bit from English tradition, but isnt that what America is all about?
