I tried a half pour of this beer off the tapper at the brewery with my wife and her old colleague whilst in the area for my daughter's WIAC conference finals gymnastics meet at Hamline University. It poured an opaque dark mahogany amber with tan head that is not leaving much lace. The scent had nice roast and chocolate notes. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with semi sweet chocolate malt base with roast and coffee profile. The mouthfeel was medium in body and had good carbonation. Overall it is a great beer!

16 oz can poured into a 12 oz. mug. Poured black with a decent tan head. IBU is 26. This stout uses a quality coffee bean. Probably my favorite coffee brewer supplies this excellent coffee bean. I found it to be a smooth stout with a nice body and really no bitterness. Not overly carbonated. Tastes of coffee and chocolate - well of course, it's a stout. Also dark roasted malt.
Nice drinkability. Would have again.

this is a great pint of coffee stout, one of the better coffee beers i have had from minnesota. coal black on the pour with a very thick but only about half an inch high layer of creamy tan foam. not particularly viscous even though its really black. the aroma is freshly brewing drip coffee with some bitter roast elements from the dark barley malt. the coffee and the dark grain seem to go together expertly well, and there is a great synergy between the two. the flavor matches up with the nose pretty well, not quite burnt barley, but heavy on the roast, and fresh coffee, less earthy and bitter as it is warming and comforting, really neat sensation from it, obviously made with some quality coffee. long finish although the beer is not real sweet, the coffee and the almost chalky textured dark grain linger awhile on the tongue. smooth and rich feeling, plenty full bodied, but also creay and soft, easy to sip on pint after pint on a chilly fall evening. i have not had many beers from these guys yet, but have been quite impressed with the couple i have had. this is killer.

Smell is heavily of roasted coffee with a hint of sweet cream. Taste pretty much mirrors the smell with just a hint of coffee acidity on the finish. Mouthfeel is a little thin for a stout. Overall, I was expecting a slightly richer coffee taste, but a decent lighter coffee stout.

Had on tap at the Pig & Fiddle. It pours bright black under a thin tan colored foam cap. It highlights rich coffee flavors and aromas with the bitterness from the roast combined with a mild hop touch balancing the sweeter malt flavors.
