Ale came on tap in a pint glass. Appeared red, dark brown in colour with good clarity. There really was not much of an aroma or scent to this beer; perhaps a tiny whiff of hop, if any. The taste of this ale was very mild, smooth and nutty. There was a subtle hop and malt flavour to the body, but only very slight. No significant after tastes or lingering flavours detected.
Would I buy this beer again? Probably not.

A- Pours dark ruby red, bordering on the edge of brown. Clear when held up to light. Head is three-fourths of a finger and off-white.
S- Smell is mild, with light toasted malt and a bit of caramel.
T- It is toasty and crisp up front. As the taste goes on and it gets further along on the tongue it unfolds some sweetness with caramel. There is some papery flavor in the finish as well.
M- Light body, with some lingering sweetness. Carbonation is a bit crisp.
O- An average beer. It's ok, but not particularly outstanding.

Overall a bit watery and a bit of an off taste on the backside. The look and smell nothing to brag about. Just small hints of bready malts, toffee, and caramel. Not what I think of when I want to pick up a Irish Red. Goes down easy but I don’t need a second one.

Appearance – This beer poured a deep red color with about one finger of foam that disappeared fairly quickly.
Smell – light malt.
Taste –Medium hop taste with no aftertaste. Some malt and some roasting is apparent.
Mouth Feel – Medium amount of carbonation.
Overall – This is a very drinkable beer and is one of my favorite Irish Red Ales thus far.

A big thanks to laymansbeerfan for this great beer. Cheers!
Appearance – Pours a deep mahogany, ruby red color into a tulip. About a finger of slight off white head that dissipates quickly leaving spotty lacing.
Smell – Lots of bready malts, toffee, caramel, nuts, hints of hops.
Taste – Odd metallic taste, heavy caramel, malts, bread, nuts, chocolate, yeast.
Mouthfeel – Lighter bodied, somewhat watery.
Overall – Not the best Irish Red. Kind of off putting to be honest.

Appearance: Dark red, pretty good head.
Smell: Strong toffee smell, a little roasted note, hint of chocolate.
Taste: Nice toffee flavor with a little more roasted flavor than suggested in the nose. Not too dry, not too sweet.
Drinkability: Easy drinking and stays away from metal/tea flavors that I dislike in "reds".
Supporting the local St. Paul brewery here. This beer is a little early for the winter carnival, has a vulcan on the label. I'm pleasantly surprised by this as I don't normally go for "red" beers, and the reviews aren't too good. Better than I expected with lots of toffee flavor and a little roasted flavor too. Worth a try.

Poured from 22 oz. bottle into a Sam Adams perfect pint glass.
Appearance: Pours a dark brown with shades of ruby red. Lots of rising bubbles and a solid three fingers of off white head with good retention. Moderate amount of lacing around the glass.
Smell: A very malty and bready aroma that is a bit odd. Caramel and toffee malts with some bready cracker, butter, nuts, and tea. A light hint of roasty chocolate. Also a strong yeasty presence in the aroma.
Taste: Very bready and cracker like. Some caramel and chocolate malts that are lightly roasted giving a hint of nutty chocolate flavor. Somewhat buttery with a strong presence of yeast. Very light amount of earthy hops towards the finish. Almost literally tastes like a liquid tea biscuit.
Mouthfeel: Light to medium bodied with a moderate level of carbonation. Creamy and pretty smooth.
Overall: An interesting brew with a nice breadyness. Could of used a little less yeast.

This beer pours a deep ruby color. The head is a half an inch in height, and recedes quickly into sparse lacing. The aroma is of tea, toffee, butter crackers, and a hint of caramel. It is a nice aroma, but it is a bit weak for the style. The taste is lighter than the aroma with some tea and toffee in the background. The mouthfeel is light bodied with a watery texture. Overall, I will pass on this beer next time.

Picked up a bomber at the Ale Jail for $6. This beer smells and tastes a bit like it's been oxidized. I think that it's actually the Irish ale yeast character just coming on too strong, but it's not pleasant. Underneath is a well-made, smooth malty caramel character, but it's not enough to make this beer worth drinking.
