A 500ml bottle with a BB of Sept 2014. Acquired a little while back from the York Beer & Wine shop. Described on the label as a clear wheat beer with intense citrus hops. Brewed with 77% wheat malt and 23% pale malt.

Poured into a straight pint glass. A clear golden-amber hue with good carbonation. Yields a large head of white foam that lasts for a few minutes before subsiding to a patchy surface layer. Slight lacing. Aroma of fruity hops with hints of white grape, melon, citrus, gooseberry, mild grass, grain, subtle wheat and ale yeast. Rather nice.

Tastes of intensely fruity hops with a spicy bitter finish. Notes of grapefruit, orange peel, citrus, white grape, gooseberry, grass/hay, mild wheat, a hint of grain, ale yeast and stewed hops. Well-attenuated, followed by a crisp, dry bitterness upon swallowing. Mouthfeel is smooth and tingly, with good carbonation and decent body. Somewhat astringent, accompanied by an aftertaste of bitter aromatic hops, citrus and yeast.

Pretty good - lots of fruitiness. Looks alright, while the aroma and flavour are brimming with citrus and white fruit. The malt and wheat take a definite back seat but provide a degree of balance. Body is OK. A very modern wheat beer - shame the malt isn't a bit more up front. Goes down nicely though; great if you love hops. Worth a punt if you come across it.

500 ml bottle, from Ales By Mail. ABV is 4.5%. Pale malt 75%, wheat malt 25%. Hops are Amarillo and Magnum for bittering, Amarillo for aroma and Citra for fermenter hopping. Clear golden colour, moderate white head. Nice aroma of citrussy and herbal hops. Light bodied. Medium dry flavour with zesty and grapefruity hops, distinct bittering hops. Pleasant to drink.

50cl bottle, no hint of the age.

Exceptionally clear gold, some lace.

Nose is citrus with a bit of pine, grapefruit.

Taste is all focused on the same hop notes, the body is watery and tasteless. I do not understand the reference to the taste of wheat malt in some reviews.. wheat malt as such does not carry much taste. It mainly leaves a hole where the malty body should be. Amarillo is not particularly prominent, really -- if you expect an IPA type attack, you are going to be disappointed. The hop does leave a residual bitterness that becomes unpleasant because the counteracting body is missing. A bit better if the beer is warmed beyond the usual, but then the taste becomes otherwise flatter.

The gaping hole in the taste just cannot be compensated for and the hoppiness is quite lame. I personally do not understand what the point was supposed to be. In my opinion this is indeed drinkable, but it does not beckon one to even finish the bottle.

From a 500ml bottle.

Pours dark gold and crystal clear with a scrappy head that leaves some smears of lacing. No carbonation visible.

Smells of flowery, citrusy amarillo hops.

Taste is citrus, hop-forward, with wheat malts in the background and a medium level of bitterness. Don't expect any traditional wheat beer flavours (no cloves or banana).

Medium body with a clean finish. Low carbonation. Smooth on the tongue.

Very drinkable and enjoyable. Much better than other beers that I've tried of this style, which can be pretty bland and unsubstantial. This is awfully close to being an APA despite the large amount of wheat malt.
