good roasty nose but taste has more grassyness than roast or hops, if dry enough.

4 oz pour at Soirée des Brasseurs. Black pour with dark brown head, looks good. Elegant nose of chocolate and roasted malts. Taste leans more towards roasted malts and is relatively dry with a touch of sweetness. Light bodied without being watery. Not mindblowing, but everything you would expect from a succesfull swarzbier.

f'ing awesome. on tap at rustico. pretty much textbook schwarzbier with a nice, pure, flavor profile and a bit of a wet rock minerality that seems common of all the artisan brewers up there. really cool. very place oriented. black mama is a great name. this beer has soul. looks fantastic. clear black. didn't think it was possible. coffee with cream colored head that holds and leaves very attractive lace. nose is coffee and almost burnt toast and roasty goodness with that earthy wet rockiness and a hint of grassy hop. it's all there in the taste too. coffee (almost chicory laced), roasty cereal, toast bread and a hoppiness that seems to come up at the end and balance everything out. nice and light body. very silky. low abv. really craving more when the glass is drained. best schwarzbier I've ever had. hands down.
