Chilled 341 ml bottle into a shaker pint. Bottling date appears to be March 2012.

Look- The quickly rising foam (this one was a near-gusher) once the seal was cracked left me fearing an infected brew, which happily turned out to not be the case. The quick pour left me with a glass full of suds that refused to fall, although once it did it left a respectable craggy off-white cap that looks like beige whipped cream. Medium amber, visible carbonation. Based on what I've seen, the surplus of foam is due to perhaps-too-good retention/high protein content rather than excess carbonation. infection, or similar. Sediment leads me to believe it's also bottle-conditioned, so that could certainly be affecting things. Exceptional-to-bizarre lacing, dense suds cling to the sides and stand up to 1.5 cm off the side of the glass.

Smell- Malty, toasted, California-esque yeast character, light floral hop presence, somewhat spicy. Could pass as a malty pale or American mild at this point.

Taste- Surprisingly assertive hop presence, nougat, nutty, and C-style hops, Warrior at a guess. Strongly reminiscent of a West coast pale minus the caramel malt. Not particularly complex, but clean and pleasant, enough flavor to be interesting. American Brown... hmmm... maybe there should be more of these around.

Mouthfeel- Light body for the style, clean, crisp carbonation. Very quaffable. at 4.5% this one's an easy drinker.

Overall- Not going to wow American drinkers, but unusual for what I've seen in Quebec, definitely worth trying.

This beer is exclusive to Le Monde des Bières store.

Brown color beer. Clear. Nice head that is creamy looking and sticks nicely to the glass. The aroma is hazelnut or nut, some burnt something and caramel. On the taste, it is burnt caramel with a nice light bitterness on the finish. Medium body. Drinkability is high. A good session beer and a very good brown ale.

Thanks to hoppypocket for this one.

Appearance: A massive off-white head fills a good portion of the glass (but not too much). Semi-clear copper brown body with pretty good lacing.

Smell: Roasted malt, some nuttiness and earthy hops.

Taste: Some smokiness and nuts come first with some firewood tucked in there as well as a whisper of roasted coffee. Delicate hops and some hickory.

Mouthfeel: Strong up front with a good mix of malt and medium-low bitterness. The tail end falters a bit but otherwise good.

Overall: A solid brown ale. One i'd have again.
