Appearance is a deep, dark brown with hardly any head. The nose is quite weak, especially for an RIS. The flavor profile is a solid combination of malt and dark fruits with roasted bitterness on the finish. There is also a touch of alcohol warmth on the finish as well. This is a very good, but not great offering.

Batch 349 (2011 bottle?), opened in 2013.
A - Straight black body with no highlights; one of the darkest beers I've seen. Dark milk chocolate head settles into a medium halo. Low lace.
S - Cocoa powder, brown sugar, dark fruits, light balsamic vinegar, chocolate cookies.
T - Very sweet; caramel, light brown sugar, chocolate cookies, touch of booze, pumpernickel bread, burnt toast. Nice integration.
M - Thick, full body, low carbonation. About spot on for an RIS.
O - A little too sweet for the style, but otherwise well crafted.
