A - Very light, off white head, very dark ruby color to the body, quite opaque.

S - tart straight off the bat, very reminiscent to Flemish red sours. Almost medicinal smell to it. Cherry aroma, though it's a blueberry beer. Deep aroma, but not overwhelming... very nice.

T - Sweet upfront, that finishes tart... cherry skin notes. Not knock-you-back blueberry flavors, but much fruit flavor. Cherry sour lingers on the aftertastes but for the most part, a nice finish.

M - Medium bodied, I suppose... with a very light carbonation, lingers on the palate but nothing too heavy.

O - Review started a bit after the bottle was opened, so I might be a bit off with the carbonation. Very tasty beer but the overall flavor was more cherry than anything else... I would have this agaiN!

Drank from my Duvel Tulip

Brewed 23.08.11 Bottled 21.11.12

A - Pours a deep mahogany colour with hints of purple. The head reduces very quickly.

S - Great aromas of sour fruits and oak, really nice. Reminiscent of Rodenbach.

T - Up front some nice vinous flavours, followed by some blueberry funk and brett, The Oak is very present and reminds me of a Flanders Oud Bruin. The finish is kinda musty and a little earthy with a tiny bit of coffee. The Blueberry vapour hangs around in your mouth and that is awesome.

M - Light to medium body with minimal but spritzy carbonation.

O - This beer is quite left of centre. I really enjoyed it. Its a cross between a Flanders Oud Bruin and a Fruit Lambic. I absolutely loved it. Well worth a try.

Beautiful red and blueish hues with little to no head or much carbonation.

Aroma is of red wine barrels, lactic sourness and a touch of vinegar.

Taste is of the skin of un-ripened fruits, yogurt tartness & after a couple sips I do pick up the blueberries but more of the kind you pick that are not very sweet. a touch of tannins that make it finish really dry. the sourness is not huge but makes it feel a bit more complex allowing you to taste some of the malt sweetness.

mouthfeel is medium and slick but finishing dry with little carbonation

overall I really am enjoying this beer and will pick up another to see how this changes

A: Poured from a 500 ml bottle, clear and dark crimson with a way-off white head comprised of large bubbles stacked 1/2-inch high and fades to partial cap leaving clumpy lace.

N: Tartness with basalmic, fruits and berries with tannic oak.

T: Sharply tart with some musty cheese, tannins, aged wood, faint blueberry skin rather than juice.

M: Medium body and semi-moderate carbonation. Finishes sour and fruity.

O: Like others from this brewery there are lots of wood barrel character present. The sour and tart component really drives this while the blueberries take a back seat. Expecting more, yet still fun to try.

Uwa! A blueberry lambic! (not technically a lambic I know). When I saw this on the shelf I thought for a very quick moment it was the Cantillon, unfortunately it's this... but I've always wanted to try a decent blueberry sour.

A: Looks kind of like deep blueberry flesh actually, if you cut it a bit with a blonde beer. No head or lacing, but its definitely unique in appearance.

S: Blueberries do stand out right away (mostly because one is not accustomed to smelling that when nosing a beer). A bit of funk and grain. Other fruits as well. leafy.

Taste: Acidity at the front of the tounge, juicy blueberry middle and decent dry finish.

Mouthfeel: A bit thick and cloying. Low, natural carbonation but probably good enough for the style.

Overall: Quite tasty. At only $8 (Boston) I probably should have bought a couple more.

HaandBryggeriet Blåbic

Bottled: 11/21/12

T- mirrors the nose. Tart blueberry and boysenberry, tannic, oak, slight yeast, grape. Very full flavor and excellent. 4.5

M- thicker body for a lambic and medium carbonation. I enjoyed the mouthfeel 4.25

O- a real pleasure. Great lambic that had good drinkability. Well done. 4.25

poured into tulip glass.

Appearance: Dirty purplish brown bodied beer with a thick white cap. Cap drops down a thin white ring around the glass.

Smell: jammy berries and tannic wet oak. Vinous with a slight balsamic vinegar note. Slightly musty funk.

Taste: moderately tart sour. Triple berry jam. Blueberries arent really noticeable, it just tastes like more of a berry medley. Huge wet oak presence with a hint of horse blanket funk. Hint of cardboard and a hint of vinegar. Lingering tart finish mixing with jammy and malty sweetness(think flanders red but with berries), and more tannic notes.

Mouthfeel: medium bodied beer with low carbonation. The beer feels both slick and oily. This beer has surprising semi-dry finish that is slightly acidic like a wine. Quite drinkable sour at 7.5%; not a hint of booze to be found.

Overall: I have some mixed feelings about this beer. It boarders between a sour beer, a flanders red, and a wine made with berries. It was definately an enjoyable and fairly tasty sour, but I dont think of this beer as a blueberry sour by any means. The blueberries in this beer just werent there. I think that I will name a new beer style and call this beer a "Flanders Blue".
