A: Pours really deep black color with a dark mocha head. There is a good amount of lacing and alcohol legs on this one. Carbonation seems a bit "big" for the genre but it's a ok.
S: This smells like a desert beer for sure. You can definitely pick up the lactose in this. Chocolate milk notes with coconut, vanilla and marshmallow are very apparent. Simple and straight to the point, but smells very good.
T: Really sweet taste, reminds me a bit of Southern Tier. You get a lot of chocolate milk, coconut, vanilla and burnt marshmallows as described in the taste. There is also quite a bit of booze in my bottle, much more than anticipated. Nothing too bad but still worth to note.
M: Very good feel with creamy body and medium to heavy mouthfeel. A bit sticky, but that is to be expected. Carbonation is not as smooth as expected for the genre, but pretty good still. As many other Quebec breweries, Saint-Bock needs to work on their yeast game.
O: This is a simple beer that does what it wants quite well. A solid offering and worth the try if you are looking for something sweeter and boozy for the winter.

On-tap at Le Saint-Bock, Montréal, QC, Canada
A: The beer is jet black in color. It poured with a quarter finger high "dirty" beige head that left a thin layer of bubbles covering the surface.
S: Moderate aromas of dark milk chocolate are present in the nose.
T: The taste follows the smell and is very chocolatey with notes of lactose, making it taste like milk chocolate.
M: It feels medium-bodied and somewhat smooth on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: I really liked the milk chocolate aromas and flavors in the smell and taste of this beer.
Serving type: on-tap

Bottle: Poured a deep black color ale with a nice dark brown foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of vanilla and cocoa is pretty enticing with some coffee notes also perceptible. Taste is also a well balanced mix between coca, vanilla and lightly bitter coffee notes. Body is maybe tad too thin for style with good carbonation with no alcohol being too apparent. Well executed and very enjoyable with nice level of drinkability.
