Good head over dark, dark base. Espresso-like appearance. Huge chocolate aroma - bittersweet chocolate. Flavour is lots of sweet cocoa, traces of wininess and grape. Raisins. Moderate body and very low carbonation. Slightly astringent. Good drinkability. I really like this one a lot. Very tasty with a big cocoa.

from notes taken on vacation in montreal 5.16.2010.

served in a pint glass with marshmallow garnish.

color is a standard opaque dark brown to black. came to the table with a big, thick creamy tan colored head. after calming i was left with a thin cap that lasted all the way down and lots of webby lace in the glass.

nose of chocolate milk with some slight dark fruitiness.
taste follows with milk chocolate and some roast balanced by piney hops in the finish. pretty simple really, and just shy of being cloyingly sweet.

really thin for a stout, but still a bit chewy with a nice creaminess to it.

goes down pretty easy, but after one i found the sweetness to be too much. if you're into it, this might make a good session beer, but i won't be having it again.

This pint arrives to the table, garnished, with, drumroll, please, a whole marshmallow, wedged into the rim of the glass. It appears an opaque black, with no light even at the edges, with one finger of soapy beige head, that leaves minor lace as it recedes, shrinking away from the snazzy garnish. It smells of sweet milk chocolate, like those sugar-laden solid Easter bunnies, vanilla candy sugar, not unlike melted marshmallows, and roasted malt. The taste is bitter roasted chocolate malt, candy sugar, and vanilla. The carbonation is quite mild, the body a bit on the thin side, and it finishes dry, some roasted chocolate lingering.

I was informed, after asking the waitress about the ingredients in this draft beer, that they use `vanille et sucre`in their recipe. No kidding. This is one hell of a dessert beer.

Poured a black hue with a two finger creamy off white head. There was excellent retention and very good lacing. Served with a marshmallow on top.

The smell featured a burnt grain, dry coffee and a touch of lactose sweetness.

The taste conssited of burnt grains and a serious cafe au lait element.

The mouthfeel was of average fullness for the style with a nice creaminess.

Overall a tasty and hearty stout. Very similar in flavor and aroma to the Guersison.

A bit of a novelty: stout with marshmallow flavour. Jet black appearance with a well-retained cocoa head. Huge marshmallow aroma dominates over the roasted notes of the stout. Thankfully, its better integrated in the flavour, which although still large in the marshmallow exhibits a nice roasted smoothness. Medium bodied and quite slick. Good, but not as good as toasted marshmallow ice cream!
