On tap at Saint-Bock. Listed as a Dark IPA, but that doesn't seem to be one of the style choices.

Presented with a decent cream-white head atop a dark mahogany body with some ruby highlights. Retention and lacing could be better.

This smells almost exactly like Del Monte canned fruit salad! Complete with the single, pale cherry half. You know the stuff: diced pears and peaches with grapes and pineapple. Just open up one of those little fruit salad cans, that's what this beer smells like. As a smell for a beer...I have to admit I'm pretty into it.

The taste is a little more watery than I'd like, but still alright. Also, the character is totally different from that of the smell. I was hoping for some of that fruit salad but there's just the slightest bit. It's pretty bitter with not enough malt to serve as a base. Pineapple and grapefruit rinds, a touch of molasses, dark malt. The finish is a little dry and presents some alcohol. Tastes like a brewpub beer for sure (a little rough around the edges) but isn't too bad.

The feel is a little thinner than I'd like with medium carbonation. Not bad, not great.

This is drinkable. At many drinking establishments this beer would be the highlight but amongst the twenty-something offerings at Saint-Bock I would rather have had something else (especially the Charlevoix ESB...damn). If you happen to find this at Saint-Bock yourself, I'd probably recommend doing the same. There's bound to be something better there. Decent beer though.
