Peach Grand Cru is Great Divide’s newest limited offering. Brewed with Colorado fruit picked right at the peak of ripeness, this Belgian-style ale marries two of our home state’s well-known offerings: great beer and fresh Palisade peaches. Both sophisticated and balanced, this extraordinary, aromatic ale was born to be savored beyond the orchard.

Bottled Nov 05 2014, well cared for, still had some pop when I pulled the cap. No residue in either pour, but a good 5/8 in. dark ring was left around the bung of the bottle. Poured into a Chimay chalice, the PGC appears medium reddish amber with a quickly fading off white head. The beer maintains a thin cap with a tightly packed ring leaving behind occasional lacing (the etching at the bottom of the chalice was the primary source of any visible carbonation). The smell is mostly rich malty goodness with a moderate amount of alcohol. The taste offers an initial touch sweetness (that still hints of peach) and is gradually overcome by alcohol and a sense of drying. There’s an odd transition toward the end when comforting notes of warming alcohol tangle with some sour remnants into the finish. The mouthfeel is unique in that it ranges from initially slick to pleasantly fizzy and finally haunting. Overall, I’m glad I kept this beer around to see how it would age. I liked this beer, as I do many of the brews from this classic CO brewery that’s put out many a great beer.

First drainpour in a long time. Very disappointing. Flavor non existent, little peach presence.
