Notes/Commercial Description:
Peach Grand Cru is Great Divide’s newest limited offering. Brewed with Colorado fruit picked right at the peak of ripeness, this Belgian-style ale marries two of our home state’s well-known offerings: great beer and fresh Palisade peaches. Both sophisticated and balanced, this extraordinary, aromatic ale was born to be savored beyond the orchard.

Thanks to Tieman for sharing this one at his tasting.

Bottled 10/9/13.

Pours a clear orange with a foamy off-white head that settles to wisps of film on top of the beer. Small streaks of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, grain, yeast, spice, and slight peach aromas. Taste is much the same with grain, peach, and some metallic flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of yeast bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp and medium bodied mouthfeel. Overall, this is an above average beer that is fairly drinkable but the flavors are all muddled in my opinion.

750 ml bottle. Pours clear orange amber with a medium creamy white head that retains well and leaves some lacing.

The aroma is sweet peaches with some earthy funk.

The flavor is sweet and acidic peaches and yeast with an odd chalky tannin like bitter finish. It's a bit boozy. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with low carbonation.

Overall, an OK boozy belgian peach beer.

Poured from a 750 ml bottle into a Duvel tulip glass. Bottled on October 9, 2013.

Appearance: Pours a somewhat hazy brownish amber orange with a moderate amount of bubbles. Solid two fingers of off white head which fade into a thin patchy layer. Leaves a decent amount of lacing.

Smell: A fruity, yeasty, and sweet Belgian Cru style aroma with big hints of peaches and spice. Belgian yeast with hints of clove, peppers, and funk. Big scent of peaches along with some other fruit hints of pear, apple, banana, and grapes. Sweet malt hints of caramel, biscuit, grains, straw, and cracker. Big scent of Belgian candied sugar. Subtle dark fruit hints of raisin and fig. A pretty solid fruity smell.

Taste: Like it smells, a yeasty, fruity, and fairly sweet Belgian taste with big notes of peach and malt. Belgian yeast along with some notes of clove, funk, and peppers. Big presence of candied sugars. Big upfront taste of peaches. Also some fruit notes of pear, banana, apple, and grapes. Solid malt presence with notes of sweet caramel, grains, straw, biscuit, and cracker. Subtle undertones of dark fruit with some raisin and fig notes. Pretty light hop presence. A pretty solid taste.

Mouthfeel: Medium to full bodied with a medium to high level of carbonation. Sweet and somewhat sticky but not cloying. Kind of boozy but it still goes down easy.

Overall: A pretty solid twist on a Grand Cru. The peaches add a good kick. Not quick as big with the dark fruit as the style typically is but its still good.

Picked this up in Wichita. Bottled 9 Oct 13

Pours an effervescent copper with a pinky of cream colored head. Viscious with minimal head retention & lacing

S: Canned peaches, pears & booze

T: Pears, a touch of peach brandy & dryness up front. Slight oakyness as this warms, then honey, a little bit of woody hops, & boozey pear & some golden delicious apple& leafy hops. Finishes dry, fruity & somewhat boozey

MF: Medium bodied, sticky with moderate carbonation, warming

Drinks a might slow due to the ABV & complexity. This will get better with age. Great Divide should've stuck a bunch in Brandy barrels & aged this for a year or so.... Was hoping for more now...

Had on tap at Max's on 11/2/13

A: 1 finger head with lacing. There was really bad lighting so I'm not exactly sure of the exact color but it was very copper.

S: Sweet and very Belgian. A bit bready but only got a bit of the earthy pith of peaches.

T: Not too sweet. Like a tripel but with none of the spice. Not fruity at all. A bit of that earthy pith skin part of the peach. Weird aftertaste. Bready.

M: Soft with light bubbles.

O: Not what I was expecting. Odd malt backbone. Not good. Bleh.

Poured into a Gulden Draak tulip. Pours a medium to dark orange amber with a fine half finger off-white head with great retention and lacing. Aroma of candi and bready malt, peach and apricot, green apple, Belgian yeast. Flavor is bready and mildly caramel malt, peach, apricot, clove, hints of dried dark fruit. Starts semisweet and almost syrupy, but finishes dry with clove and grassy, straw. Medium bodied with light creaminess. An interesting Belgian style ale that delivers on the peach flavor. Interesting flavor progression, starting like a fruity dubbel, but finishing more like a semi-dry, clovey tripel. A little unbalanced, but a pleasant change from the standard flavors in Belgian strong ales. ABV is very well covered.
