Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a tall pint glass. Bottled on December 18th, 2013.
Appearance: Pours a bright and clear golden orange with a moderate amount of bubbles. About two fingers of white head which slowly fade into a thin creamy layer. Leaves a good amount of lacing.
Smell: An earthy and grassy hoppy aroma with good hints of grass, pine, and caramel malt. Earthy, floral, and herbal hops with upfront hints of wet grass and spicy pine resin. Citrus hop presence with hints of orange peel, grapefruit, lemon, tangerine, and pineapple. Bready malt backing with hints of caramel, biscuit, grains, cracker, and yeast. A solid earthy aroma.
Taste: Like it smells, an earthy and crisp hoppy taste with good notes of grass, pine, and caramel malt. Upfront taste of earthy hops with floral notes. Notes of damp grass and pine resin spice. Citrus hop notes of grapefruit, orange peel, lemon zest, pineapple, and tangerine. Backing presence of pale malt with notes of biscuit, sweet caramel, grains, yeast, and cracker. A pretty solid earthy IPA taste.
Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with a moderate amount of carbonation. Juicy and somewhat oily feel. Finishes dry and smooth.
Overall: A solid East Coast style take on an IPA. Very grassy with a solid malt backing.

12 oz. bottle poured into a Flying Dog goblet (5/22/14)
A: Blonde amber body that pours with a nice thick foamy head that is gone fast enough, with some nice lacing.
S: Light tropical breeze that fades into pines and malts.
T: The flavor overall is quite tame and low-key, with only a hint of bitterness in the back of the throat. I'd heard decent things about it, but this just run of the mill to me or even a bit below. It is decent for what it is, but some IPAs can stand up to a bit of age (almost 2 months) and still be quite pungent and delicious. You don't even get the good malt flavor here.
M: Smooth with no roughness.
O: This one probably needs to be super fresh to be good. Sadly, it didn't lasso me in. It is what it is, and that isn't much.
