The third bottle I sampled from the Great Divide Variety Pack.
Bottle date was 2/14/2011
Enjoyed in a DFH Pint Glass
A - Pours a deep, yet nearly transparent, copper-reddish color. Nice two finger, foamy head on the initial pour that lasted through several sips. Copious amounts of lacing left on the side of the glass.
S - A classic IPA smell with a nice aroma of citrus and hops.
T - A first class IPA. With the initial sip you're hit with a nice citrusy, almost orange-like taste. A nice piney taste is also present. A great balance between the sweetness of the malts and the bitterness of the hops. A great combination of flavors. The ABV is in the 7% range but it never really tastes likes its that high.
M - A medium consistency. Just the right amount of carbonation. A slight bitterness lingers after each sip.
O - An excellent IPA. This one ranks up there with some of the better IPAs I've had. Dangerously drinkable. I could easily throw back several of these with no problem. Highly recommended.

Served on tap in a pint glass
Appearance – The beer pours a clear golden amber color with a one finger cap of a pure white color. The head has a decent level of retention, fading over time to leave a light level of streaky lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma of the beer is heaviest of a bready malt smell with some notes of graininess mixed within. Along with the bready smells are some nice earthy and piney smells as well as some sweeter aromas. The sweet aromas are mainly of a fruit nature with some pear, orange, and a little bit of a tropical fruit smell of mango.
Taste – The taste begins bitter bite right from the start with a nice earthy flavor mixed with some grapefruit hop as well. Along with the bitter hop are some nice bready and sweeter tangerine and mango flavors that end up balancing the hop nicely with the sweeter and malty flavors creating a base taste that lasts throughout the flavor profile. As the taste advances further, more hop flavors come to the tongue with some more earthy tastes as well as a resinous pine. While these increases in hop flavors come, the grapefruit mellows some and a bit of a doughy and caramel flavor take its place. This creates a smoother taste at the end of the tongue, and when mixed with the nice hop profile leaves a rather pleasant “dank hop” flavor to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the thicker side with a carbonation level that is on the average side. For the mix of bready and hoppy flavors the thicker body is fantastic as it accentuates these flavors wonderfully all while the higher carbonation level keeps it quite refreshing.
Overall – A very tasty and nicely malty and hoppy IPA. Quite nice.
