look: 3.75 | smell: 4 | taste: 4.75 | feel: 4.25 | overall: 4.5

A- poured to a pint glass. Dark orange, even brownish hue. 1 finger head, leaving a nice lace. Hazy in clarity, not necessarily appealing so I docked it a bit for that

S- at first nose I got cotton candy. Draw two brought out a good balance of malt and hops. Pine, woodsy, apple, subdued but solid.

T- lots of tasty, I mean friggin tasty caramel up front, stays with it through the palate. The hops is present, but the focus is elsewhere. The malt base is smooth. Grassy at times. This beer mellows to a nice warm smooth finish. It makes a strong and focused, yet singular statement

M- medium to aggressive hops. Surprisingly it fits this beer. The mouthfeel smartly takes the focus off the beer taste then allows your mind to wander back. Ends silky on the tongue but not milky. Well done

O- this beer is very focused. If your palate digs the groove, then it hits a homerun. If not there is not enough complexity to cover the masses. In my case, it sits well with me. Ergo, home run in my opinion!

Bottled on Date of 12/09/13

Appearance - Pours a crystal clear rusty orange color with a half finger, off-white head. Fair retention, leaving behind a broken layer of suds on the surface. Fair lacing around the glass with good stick.

Smell - Toasted bread, with lesser notes of citrus and floral hoppiness.

Taste - Follows the nose. Mellow, balanced flavors that hit on toasted bread, light caramel with soft, floral hop character. Balanced finish.

Mouthfeel - Medium in body with moderate carbonation. Fair creaminess. Smooth, easy finish.

Overall - Not the freshest example; seems light on the hoppy side, but I'm chalking that up to 5 months of age on this bottle. Would love to try this fresh. Delicious, regardless.

Poured from a bottle ~3 months old. Color is a straight amber. Very little head.

On the nose I pick up the malt, floral, and citrus. Malt seems to be stronger than most IPAs.

Nice malt backbone on the front. Finishes like a ipa. Piney and citrusy. Not a lot of tropical fruit like on some of the west coast styles.

Poured from a bottle with a bottled on date of 3/4/14; into a pub glass.
Appearance - a straw orange, powerful carbonation bubbles that builds a hefty, foamy white head that leaves brilliant lacing!
Smell - ciabatta bread, hops that smell like a forest.
Taste - balanced pine and earthy hops and buttery malts.
Feel - malt creaminess up front with bitterness from the hops to finish it off.
Overall - a flavorful and enjoyable brew; not as aggressive as I like my IPA's, but this is still outstanding!

12 oz. bottle poured into a pint glass

A-1 to 1 1/2 fingers of foam, nice lacing. Dissipated slowly. Beautiful, orange-amber, crystal clear.

S-biscuit, floral, fruitiness. Less powerful than I'd expected.

T-This one felt a little more malt balanced to me. Bready, caramel malt with some pine characteristics coming through.

M-Felt a little heavier than some, perhaps the maltiness coming through. Nice carbonation. Due to the weight, not quite as "drinkable" as some others for me.

O-Enjoyable but didn't meet my expectation with the other ratings and how beautifully it poured. I'd like to have more of a hop presence, beyond just some bitterness shining through.

Pours lovely clear orange with a fat creamy head of off white foam that left sticky lace. Nose is scrumptious with a bit of caramel and big bright fruit. Orange, mango and a touch of pine. Hops are herbal and a little dank. Taste is light caramel and plenty of fruit to include orange, mango and some wonderful tartness from grapefruit. Has a perfect balance int he flavors that is remarkable. The bitter is complimentary and does not exceed the fruit, the fruits do not overshadow the caramel. The pine is earthy and there a touch of herbal that comes forward in the finish to leave some grass with all that. The mouthfeel has a touch of weight to it but drinks essentially light and very juicy.

So well done! It just kept getting better as it moved across the palate.

Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a tall pint glass. Bottled Feb 19, 2014.

Appearance: Pours a bright and clear golden orange with a moderate amount of bubbles. Solid two fingers of off white head which slowly fade into a thin creamy layer. Leaves a good amount of lacing.

Smell: An earthy and juicy hop forward aroma with good hints of citrus, grass, and caramel malt. Upfront mix of earthy, floral, and herbal hops with hints of wet grass and pine resin. Citrus hop hints of orange peel, grapefruit, lemon, mango, kiwi, and pineapple. Solid malt backing with hints of sweet caramel, grains, cracker, and yeast. A pretty solid hoppy aroma.

Taste: Like the smells hints at, an earthy, juicy, and nicely bitter hop forward taste with good notes of citrus, grass, pine, and caramel malt. Upfront earthy, herbal, and floral hop notes with a taste of damp grass and dank pine resin. Citrus hop notes of grapefruit, orange peel, mango, lemon, pineapple, and kiwi. Good backing presence of sweet malt with notes of caramel, grains, yeast, and cracker. Nicely juicy and oily. A pretty good IPA taste.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with a moderate amount of carbonation. Juicy, oily, and pretty drying on the finish.

Overall: A very good take on a IPA. Good juicy citrus notes along with some earthy hop notes and sweet malt.

Pours light copper color with a thin, foamy head. Strong citrus smell. Very fruity, citrus taste with a strong hoppy aftertaste almost piney, but seems tart with a dry taste. Bitterness prevails long after drinking. Good, but not my favorite IPA. Would drink when available. It is just a little too tart for me to go to every time.

Nice white lacing sticks to the glass. Head is fluffy white foam and has nice retention. Orange glow from the brew with a slight tint of red.

Awesome aroma. Orange, apple, pine, creamy, milky. Juuust a bit too light.

Smooth, sharp, biting bitterness, but not overzealous. Sweetness is prevalent, but more of a dry earthy rind. Flavors are well blended, not filling, delicious, quaffable, highly drinkable and if it wasn't for the high ABV. Light, solid, tons of flavor.

Even with a few months on the shelf, the hops are still solid and holding true. GDBC has perfected Titan. It's damn good and is my go-to beer when I have no clue what to get. Solid. Highly recommended, I wish it came in CANS...

This beer lives up to its name. This is a titanic IPA, loaded to the brim with awesome hoppy mana. PINE. Its like drinking the most wonderful christmas tree, followed by citrusy hoppy delight. Overall, a killer beer, and a high enough ABV to accumulate beer sweater.

12oz bottle pouted into a pint glass.

A: Amber / copper color with slight carbonation. Pours a super thin head that dissolves quickly.

S: Malt / yeast, caramel, toffee, and some pine aromas.

T: Acidic and slight earthy bitterness that is interrupted by bready, biscuit sweetness. Then a dank hop bitterness kicks in on the after taste.

M: Medium bodied that is more bitter than sweet and warms the throat.

O: Malt is much more apparent in aroma and flavor for this classic IPA than many of its predecessors. Still, it's a good introduction for those new to the style and has enough kick for the hop head.

Pours super foamy. Two fingers of beer with nine of foam. It took 15 minutes to get the rest poured. The body is a hazy medium straw color.
The aroma is mango in the pine forest.
The taste is dominated by a bold and dry grapefruit bitterness with some lemon and orange.
The texture is dry with moderate carbonation.
If you like super dry bitterness, this beer's for you. It was a bit much for me though.

Bottle, dated 11/13:

A: Beautiful orange-amber coloring with a one-finger head. Moderate lacing throughout.

S: First impression is soured fruit, somewhat dank. Yeasty/bready aroma comes on strong as the beer warms.

T: There is a very earthy quality to the initial taste, with the malt and sour tropical fruit far in the background. Quite odd that it lacks any of the hop punch that I expected for a relatively-fresh IPA. Bitter, dry, but far from hoppy.

M: Actually quite nice- slick and oily. Medium to med-heavy.

O: Just didn't pack the hoppy aroma and taste that I was hoping for. I think the sour & earthy notes would have benefited from that classic fresh-hop flavor. Far from a terrible IPA, but far from my first choice.

Ok, so I feel bad rating this beer lower than the rest of the crowd but it's really not my cup of tea. Big, malty, piney flavors with overpowering bitterness that drip off the tongue make my mind go to a beer in which the hops have dropped out (sadly) -- even though they have NOT. I'm a fan of Great Divide, though, and will not hesitate to buy another 6 pack of this beer if I'm going nat'l forest skiing. It really is a Colorado homage, and I feel like I could come to like this beer more if that's what I was searching for.

Love this world.

lightish look for an ipa, big bubbly head. i can't smell much (my fault, not the beer) but i pick up pineapple and hops. taste is slick and dirty with hops: pine, bright, tangy star-fruit, lemon syrup. feel is oily, but not too bad.

your typical solid, overly-hopped ipa. well done.

Huge caramel flavors balanced by a piney, resiny, herbal hop-bomb flavor. Chinook perhaps? Nose and palate follow each other, and the carbonation level is assertive without being too aggressive. Not much clarity in the color; a copper orange hue. Great but not perfect, and a nice change of pace from the citrus hop flavor of west coast IPA's.

Purchased 6 pack from Wegman's on Taft Road in Liverpool, NY. Very tasty ipa. Bitter and dry. Has a lot of carbonation which goes well with the beer. I would say this is one of the better ipa's i have had. If you are into ipa's this is a must try. This beer is very foamy so you have to be careful with your pour.

A- Clear light amber color. Poured a thick, creamy, 2 finger head. Dissipated to thick ring around glass. Incredible lacing.
S- Smells incredible. Sweet orange, grapefruit, tropical fruits, lemon zest, citrus rind, pine, and some toffee sweetness.
T- Sweet orange and bitter grapefruit up front, followed by nice pine, earthy hops, and a little caramel from a rich malt backbone. Finish is grapefruit rind and pine resin. As it warmed, the flavors became more complex and defined.
M- Lighter side of medium body. Oily finish with a piney, peppery aftertaste.
O- This is a really good beer. The smell was, without question, what I will remember most, but by the end, it had warmed into a complex and really nicely balanced IPA. I would have again.

The Great Divide's beers are usually, in my opinion, big and bold, this IPA was a little underwhelming on the hops aspect. The malty flavor, well very nice and clean, drowns the hoppy notes I was expecting. All and all, another fine beer from The Great Divide!

Poured from bottle to a goblet. The label on the bottle is pretty nice.

A - Beautiful looking beer! It has a light gold, almost slightly orange color. Its a little foggy. Lacing like crazy.

S - Hop scents and also slightly sweet. Citrus with slight floral hints. It makes my mouth water, smells quite good.

T - Hop bitterness, perfect amount for my tastes. Some light malt which is hidden behind some citrus and pine. The bitterness form the hops linger on the tongue until the next sip.

M - It feels slightly thick and heavy, medium carbonation. The bitterness stays with you all the way down your throat. Slightly dry finish.

O - I will likely buy this one again in the future. I really enjoyed this beer by Great Divide. The hard hitting hops and piney citrus tie in to create a very delicious IPA brew. The smell and look of the beer make it impossible to refuse a drink of it. Go get yourself a bottle or two of this.

Nice IPA. Drank after a long run in search if quenching refreshment and the Titan provided just such. Crisp and clean with a full bodied hoppy character. The backside has a bit of a tonic quality that lingers a bit too long. Smell is absolutely devine and spicy with notes of pine and molasses.

I like bitter. This beer has that. I nice full bodied IPA. Nice dark amber color. At first pour a nice hoppy yet sweet citrus smell. Smooth back end but a nice bitter bite. A very good IPA for my taste. I still enjoy headhunter the most but this is a close second. A very good beer for the fall season.
