Had this on tap in a chalice at Sportstime Pizza. Deep black color with a monster chunky head that is a darker brown than most ales are. Serious lacing. Smell is a little faint, though still complex and sweet-smelling. Vanilla, chocolate, caramel. Taste is fantastic! A wonderful dessert unto itself. Sweet chocolate is met with burnt coffee, toffee, and vanilla. Huge malt presence, though well balanced by the hops (also huge). Mouthfeel is amazing - what all imperial stouts should try to achieve. Huge and creamy. It felt a lot like melted ice cream. Alcohol is pretty well hidden in the taste, but you can definitely feel it.
Notes: This is a HUGE beer. Not for rookies. I found it to be a lot less abrasive than the oaked version. Definitely a treat that I hope to have again and again.
Serving type: on-tap
