12 oz. bottle poured into a pint glass. Beer is black with a dark mocha head. Very appealing.
Smells of roasted malts, coffee, and lots of chocolate. Plenty of hops for an RIS.
Taste is more of the same. I find it leaning more towards chocolate than anything else. Hops can definitely be detected behind the malt backbone.
The mouthfeel is thick and a bit rough around the edges, which I don't mind. Drinkability is pretty good since I much prefer a thicker RIS. I find thinner versions are actually more difficult to drink in any quantity. All around a very good beer.
