Great Divide Yeti Imperial Stout - 9.5% ABV
Served at Room temp.
C: Black with about one inch of dark cappucino colored head. No light penetrates the glass.
S: Malts. Coffee. Roasted scent. Light floral/fruity scent. Sweetness.
T: Barley Malts. Slight mossy quality. The coffee flavors linger throughout the middle. Soft rounded fruity uundertones in the flavor. Not very bitter. It has a strong aftertaste of coffee. The alcohol is present and noticeable, but doesn't dominate or spoil the taste. It lingers almost wholly in the background. I was concerned that the warm serving would detract from the experience, but it is actually complimentary. Good complex combination of flavors and very well balanced.
M: A little watery. Medium carbonation.
D: Highly drinkable and enjoyable.
Serving type: on-tap

Poured from a bottle into a Spiegelau stout glass.
A: Wonderful black with a rich brown-gold head. Nice lacing, very consistent liquid, thick and heavy. Gorgeous, wonderful, dark beer.
S: Thick, heavy massive malt body with huge coffee, chocolate and cinnamon on top.
T: Big roasted malt body, significant hop bite. Crisp coffee-like bitterness rises to the top after swallowing. A nice chocolate flavor on the aftertaste. Lots of deep earthy tones and spices. Very consistent, well bodied beer with a nice variety of flavors, but not complicated. Simple, but very good. Not very sweet.
M: Super smooth, some slight carbonation but a nice silky texture to the beer itself.
O: This is a very good example of an Imperial stout that makes no false claims. It's big, bold and huge on the roasted malt character. There is just enough bitterness and alcohol to clean up the malty body. It has notes of coffee and chocolate and is very well balanced, but lacks significant amounts of specialized textures and flavors that you might find in another imperial stout. It's very good, easy to drink and is consistent with its flavors throughout its temperature range. Solid A.

March 2011 bottle. Opened July 2014.
A - Solid, almost bowling ball black body. Creamy milk chocolate head has great retention and lace.
S - An excellent nose, sweet and chocolately. Malted milk balls, deep milk chocolate, chestnuts, touch of burt coffee.
T - Opens smooth, bold, and round with milk chocolate, dark roast coffee, and thick caramel. The center drops out a little, but features nice roast grain and molasses flavors. Really nice dry roast finish.
M - Smooth with a light, well balanced carbonation. Medium-full body with a great coating on the back end.
O - Really enjoyable, and arguably the best of the entire series.
