Pours a very dark brown, nearly black color, with a frothy dark brown head. One of the darkest heads I've ever seen. Dissipates quickly. Not much lacing.
Aroma is heavily roasted caramel malts, with a little bit of coffee and molasses. Alcohol. Some pleasant vanilla.
Taste has more of the heavily roasted caramel malts. Surprisingly sweet for a stout. Roasted coffee beans and chocolate stick to the tongue. A little bit of a bite from the alcohol. Sweet milk chocolate and molasses. A surprising amount of bitterness.
Mouthfeel is full and thick. A little bit of alcohol warmth. One of the easier Stouts you'll find to drink, but by no means a chugger.
Overall, not my favorite RIS, but still very good. Definitely recommend, especially if you can find it at a good price.
