A-Deep black in the glass, while pouring it is a slight ruby around the edges, one finger brown head with some lacing.

S-Molasses, coffee, chocolate, roasted malt, even some hops.

T-Nice blend of molasses, coffee and chocolate. Roasted malt sneaks in as well. Nice bitterness as well.

M-Medium bodied, thinner than I would have like but some carbonation.

O-A nice well balanced Imperial Stout, the added bitterness is a nice touch.

This is a beer I've been enjoying for a while and I'm finally getting around to reviewing.

Black pour with nice light brown head. Smells a bit smokey with hints of toasted almonds. Nice malty backbone that balances out the hops. Pretty decent mouthfeel. Nicely carbonated, but not super rich and creamy. Really solid base that works well with all sorts of variations. The oak aged version is still my favorite though.

12oz bottle brewed 6 months ago.

A: I was surprised at the very small brown head. This was my first Russian Imperial Stout, so the low carbonation caught me a bit by surprise. Color is as black as Spinal Taps "Smell the Glove".

S: Smells a bit like Coffee

T: Nice thick taste. Coffee, Malt, Chocolaty with some bitter aftertaste. Didn't taste as flat as I thought it would.

M: Very smooth, creamy and very heavy.

O: I have been having a lot of IPAs recently and it is good to get back to a good stout as a change of pace. I'll be looking to have this one again.

For an even greater affect I used my Chimay goblet, celebrant of my 500 review some 10 beers ago. lets see what happens...

Dark as dark can be like a black hole. A small deeply mocha head sits on top but fades extremely quick. I was expecting a rather thick brew when poured but was not.
Aroma is smooth melted chocolate roasted or burnt malts espresso and hints of vanilla.
Taste is bitter dark coffee beans and deeply roasted malts maybe even burnt. I get a nice hop bite in the middle and flows easily into the aftertatse.
Drinks smooth and not nearly as thick as one might expect. Some gritty ash very slight at end along with a high bitterness.
A world class brew no doubt and I think a beer of this caliber would pair nicely with Frampton's live recording of Do you feel like I do.
