A great looking stout, near pitch-black, totally opaque, with a huge dark tan head that has excellent retention and leaves solid lacing.

Nose is full of prominent chocolate, with coffee and rich malt underneath.

Delicious flavor has more concentrated chocolaty notes than most other beers that say “chocolate” on the label. Rich, moderately sweet, with an underlying bitterness but not an overly forceful hoppiness, something I appreciated. I feel at times an aggressive hop character can overwhelm the other flavors in a stout and this beer doesn’t do that at all. A touch of coffee character and spice in here too.

Medium full-bodied but not super viscous. Just the right amount of chewiness but not over-the-top. Easy to drink for the style without much in the way of apparent alcohol. Carbonation is moderate, just right to give it a little life but not making it overly fizzy. Lingering finish of rich bittersweet chocolate and a trace of the underlying hops.

Wow, this will definitely become one of my go-to beers in the future, it’s easy to find and nicely priced. Can’t wait to try all the Yeti variations now!

On tap at Jone's Radiator. Served in a pint glass.

Pours a black walnut color and is opaque. Creamy brown head.

Smells of sweet burnt caramel candy and coffee.

Taste is a burned flavor. Dark fruit flavors some burned caramel and molasses.

Mouthfeel is full bodied and cloying.

ABV is high to be sessionable. But tasty.

Poured into pint glass

A: Black syrup with a medium brown 1 finger head that stuck around for a bit and is now a froth puddle sitting atop this sludge. Patches of thick lacing here and there.

S: Intense burnt malt, coffee, dark chocolate aromas mixing with boozy alcohol imparting scents of sweet dark fruit. I'd be lying if I didn't smell some piney American hops in there as well. This smells great.

T: Sweet boozy alcohol turning to a drier astringent mix of dark chocolate, espresso, vanilla, pine hop, earthy wet wood. For how dry is gets in the middle, it finishes rather nice and earthy.

M: Heavy, thick, full-bodied, and boozy.

O: Excellent R.I.S., I think this beats out Storm King as my new favorite. And I like seeing that Great Divide makes multiple small batch versions of this beer as well!

This bottle is about 2.5 months old so still pretty fresh.

It pours a solid black with nice mocha head.

The smell is alcohol and piney hops.

The taste is very boozy on the front and leans towards chocolate with a burnt roast on the back.

I have had a few of the variants of this beer and enjoyed them but I assume they had some age. I can see this beer aging very well but I wouldn't drink such a fresh bottle again.
