L: Pours a copper gold color with a small white head and lot of thick lacing around the glass.
S: A nice tropical mango, mixes with some nice malt and a touch of rye.
T: Fresh tropical fruit, mixes with a piney bitterness and some rye. This is how I like my IPAs.
F: Smooth carbonation and medium body.
O: This is a fantastic Rye IPA.

Bottled 6/24/14; drank 7/12/14 @ the Palace.
Clear ruby hue.
Off-white head; decent lace.
Pine needles & bread nose.
Medium thick mouthfeel.
Pine bitterness with a hint of caramel; pickle juice notes emerge as it warms. A cotton-mouth dryness on the finish.
Fairly awful in my opinion.

March 16th, 2015 - The Showdown Rye has a heavy rye and malt character, available as soon as the cap comes off, with sprinkles of chocolate laced in there for a sweet and strengthening effect. It pours a deep and beautiful mahogany color, with a contrasting white head, and about an inch or so of foam. The taste is sweeter than the nose lets on, but gains more rye flavor in the mid and late taste. The aftertaste itself is shorter with a bitter rye note, but its not strong or off-putting. Overall, while the rye quality is subtle in the flavor, it is present and accounted for.

Aroma: citrus, grapefruit,
Appearance: Yellow-orange color. Big white head.
Taste: baking soda, citrus, yeast, rye but not strong rye. Feel. Medium carbonation.
Pretty good, not totally disappointed, but i think i expected this to be a tad better as I like rye in beer.

Definitely has that spicy, bready rye presence in spades, but well-balanced by the hops which are piney and a hint citrusy. Nose has a whiff of vanilla, caramel, malts like you smell on a brewery tour, while the flavor allows some of the hop character to come in and finish the job with a slightly sweet, and less slightly bitter finish. Not much head but lacing sticks around forever giving it a medium body and chewy, sticky texture. This one is a real winner!
