Pours a slightly hazy with lots of particulates, deep straw/pale gold producing 1.75 fingers of off-white, frothy, moderately lasting head that leaves a heavy web of thick lace. Aroma is wheat & pale malt, citrus, floral & tropical hop notes. Overall quite delicate & subdued. Taste is also delicate but more robust than the nose: wheat, bread, hoppy hints of earth, pineapple, orange, thin lemon with some banana & spicy pepper throughout & some bitterness beginning in the finish. Aftertaste is hoppy fruit, citric & slightly bitter. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with with moderate carbonation, crisp but not clean being quite prickly & leaving a phenolic bitterness presence on the tongue. Listed as a Hefeweizen, it is certainly the most hop forward wheat beer I've tasted to date.

12oz can. 7/21/15 canned date. Appearance: Light golden, mostly clear, nice frothy white foam cap with good lacing. Aroma: Citrus, floral, resin hoppy notes. Malt not noticeable. Taste: Light crackery malt with a moderate grassy, resinous hop bitterness. Mouthfeel: Light to medium body with slight creaminess, moderate carbonation. Finish: Dry, sticky resinous bitterness lingers. No residual malt flavor. Overall: Fairly one dimensional hoppy wheat, with nice floral and citrus aromas that don’t come thru in the taste.

Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a chalice. Bottled on July 8th 2015.

Appearance: Pours a bright copper orange with a moderate amount of bubbles. Solid finger of white head that settles into a thin creamy layer.

Smell: A crisp, juicy, and sweet aroma with hints of wheat and citrus. Wheat with some bready hints of grains, straw, cracker, and yeast. Citrus hop hints of grapefruit, orange, and lemon. Also some mild hints of floral and earthy hops. A pretty solid aroma.

Taste: Like it smells, a crisp, juicy, and fairly sweet taste with notes of wheat and citrus. Good wheat presence along with notes of straw, cracker, grains, and yeast. Solid hop presence with citrus notes of grapefruit, orange, and lemon. Subtle earthy and floral hop notes. A nice taste.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with a moderate amount of carbonation. Crisp, juicy, and pretty smooth.

Overall: A solid take on a Wheat Ale. Nice bready wheat flavor with a solid touch of juicy hops.

Clear gold with a white foam. The smell has a wheat twang and flowery scents, backed with fruit. Prach and apricot. Bitterness in the midtaste. Medium body and a hoppy aftertaste.

Tasted in a 16 oz glass from draught at Firkin on August 7, 2015. Look is gold with a two finger head that dissipates and lingering lacing. Smell is hop forward with some citrus and floral notes balanced with a bit of wheat sweetness. Taste is a decent balance of hop bitterness and malt sweetness. Feel is crisp but lightly carbonated and not too bitter.

Served On-Tap

A — Pours a lightly hazy, pale yellow color into the lass, there is a white bright head on top of the beer that leaves behind some spotty and soapy lacing.

S — Smells of lightly sweet wheat and pilsner malts, as well as some wheaty sweetness and some earthy piney hops.

T — Tastes of lightly sweet wheat, balanced with a lemony piney earthy hop kick, quite refreshing.

M — Medium bodied, there is a richness to it without being heavy, really nice crisp carbonation.

O — Quite nice overall, really nice balance.

Bottled on: 6/11/15. 6.1% ABV per the label.

Pours a murky golden-orange with a foamy beige head that settles to wisps of film on top of the beer. Tiny dots of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Small chunks of sediment are seen floating around in the beer after the pour. Smell is of wheat, citrus fruit, citrus zest, and earthy hop aromas. Taste is much the same with citrus zest, grapefruit juice, and earthy hop flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of hop bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer with nice citrus forward hop aspects all around.

Serving type: bottle.

Dull gold in color, heavy head, mostly white, well over 1" in height. Aroma, pretty much devoid of aroma, but since it neither is offensive or well, existant, it just falls into the average range, because there isn't much to pick up on. I didn't expect this beer to be labeled a hefe, thought it would come in at american pale wheat.

Taste, nice fruity boquet, nothing banana about it, more like a mild fruit sweetness if anything. Crisp, dry, like toast or crackers instead of bread due to its levity. Despite the levity of the body, it really allowed the wheat and yeast to standout, no hops to get in the way relatively speaking. I actually really dug what it brought in terms of mild sweetness and wheat mouthfeel on a hot summer day walking around Denver.

Found this beer in a small town just outside Austin, hope its still good.

Appearance: A glowing orange with a thin white head floating on top. Seems to a have a little bit of cloudiness working , like most wheat beers, no laceing to be found.

Smell: Wheaten wafts of vapor envelope my sences. Citrusy fruits and sweet bread , and even a hint of sourness can be found. Very good aromas and yet slightly bad at the same time.

Taste: Much like the nose it tastes fruity, sour and watered wheats. Not much alcohol to detect but its there. The sourness leads me to believe its starting to show its age. Still, not bad by any means.

Mouthfeel: Thin watery swallows, little carbonation, light in body. Not much to say about this.

Drinkability: Well, had this beer not retired i would have like to try it at a fresher state. Drinkable but not very interesting.

12 ounce bottle. Clear, golden color with a thin layer of white head. Sour aroma with some wheat and spice. Putrid sour flavor with stale wheat and a little citrus. This doesn't taste spoiled, just bad. There is some apple fruitiness. Mouthfeel is medium. Not at all drinkable. I couldn't finish my bottle. The flavor is just too foul. Most of the beer's I've tried from Great Divide were either good or great. This is a real disappointment.

Presentation: Standard 12oz. brown bottle, with a drawing of someone kayaking on some rapids. This came out of one of those Great Divide sampler 12 packs. Label is supposed to say the month and the week bottled, but mine is unnotched. Maybe 6-packs are.

Appearance: Cloudy amber with a slight orange tint. Medium sized white head forms, but collapses just as quickly.

Nose: A light lemon nose with a wheatiness and nuttyness.

Taste: low carbonation. Mainly just a lemon sour taste. A very slight hop bitterness in the finish. I wonder if they added lemon juice into this, because I taste the acidity throughout. Maybe I got a bad bottle or something.

Mouthfeel: medium body, a little on the thin side.

Pours a clear straw yellow with a fizzy white head that quickly goes to a thin collar and then disappears completely.

It's aroma is sweet malt and wheat and some DMS. Smells a lot like a macro.

The flavor is rather bland. Some sweetness, lemoney citrus and a touch of honey with a slight bitterness at the end. As it warmed, I could pick up a little yeastiness. It has a harsh carbonated mouthfeel.

Overall, a bland and disappointing beer from an otherwise excellent brewer. I can see why they stopped producing this.

Hazy orange/tan color, sizable white head. Smell was immediatley recognizable as off. Burnt plastic smell dominated the nose, but there was a little wheat/malt still recognizable above the funk. Taste was absolutely putrid. Rotten apple cider mixed with melted legos is about the only wasy I could describe it. Just awful after appearance. No freshness date was notched on the bottle, but I assume this was still within it's freshness time frame, or, at least, it should not have ben like this. I had to pour out 2/3 of the bottle.

Looks normal, smells fine. Hint of wheatmalt, maybe a bit too light. Not a bad odor.

"Flavor? Where are you? Come back, baby. I needs you!"

Bland. Bland. Bland.

Water upfront. Seriously, like Coors light seltzer water upfront, followed up by a decent lemon aftertaste that is nowhere near enough to save this beer.

I am a fan of the wheat beers. This is a beer for people who are not. If you like wheat beers but you can't stand all that "flavor" that most weizens have, then this is the beer for you. If you're looking to convert a friend who likes Coors Light, then this is the beer for you.

Presentation: 12 oz longneck - Bottled date on side, but it wasn't notched.

Appearance: Poured with very little head (might be because this glass came out of the dishwasher). Yellow orange color that was slightly cloudy.

Smell: Something smells slightly off, but I can't identify it. Also has citrus notes.

Taste: Very strong citrus flavor. Nice mouthfeel with a good carbonation level, but the slightly off smell seems to continue to the taste. Citrus flavor pairs well with the wheat flavor. I get the feeling this beer may be slightly past its prime, but since the brewed date was not marked there is no way to tell.

Notes: Still a very drinkable wheat - but unremarkable. According to the brewers this beer has been discontinued, so I may have got a six pack that sat around a little too long.

Pours a murky gold color. No lace to speak of. Smells rather musty, with a bit of citrus. Tastes...off to me. Maybe there's a little cistrus there, but not much else (other than that infernal Great Divide "mushy vegetable" taste, which I don't like).

I don't much care for this brew. I won't be buying again.

Label Lore: Colorful cartoon of some dude racin’ down river rapids ostensibly to get some beer! Silver Medal GABF 1994 American Wheat. Freshness info was “Notchless.” How dare they!

Pours with plenty of hazy unfiltered cloudy golden yellow hues under a white head cap that is quicly lost into me pilsner glass down to a razor thin scant slick.

Aromatic caramel candy notes. Not very Wheat-ish.

First Swigs: Smooth caramely flavors lead to a tart hops bite. Maltiness lingers in the finish. Not getting any Hefe flavors. Probably could have used a lemon or an orange slice but I declined.

Easy light to medium body with adequate carbonation. Becomes a bit cloying. Not highly drinkable.

Last Swigs: Reminds me of an English ale. Maybe more education in this style is called for. I feel like I’m missing something. This will just be a drinker, not a taster. Thanks to SkinnyElvis for the few he offered.

Beer is good. Happy beering.

This is the 2nd beer of 4 out of Great Divide's Brewer's Picks collection. Appearance is a slightly cloudy light orange. Head is pretty tiny and doesn't last long. Smell is a weak, mainly of typical wheat beer aroma. Taste is alright, rather plain, but not bad. Finish is lemony with a faint bit of orange flavor. Drinkability is good, but I've had more refreshing and better tasting wheat beers. This doesn't quite seem like a hefeweizen, even though it is listed as one. Overall: A quality product, but not outstanding in any way.

Pours with a hazy golden color - unfiltered. Slight white head. Yeasty nose with citrus in background. Mouthfeel has a nice citric bite which refreshes well. Just enough hops to clear out the palate.

An excellent summertime referesher. Not a lot going on, but thats the point of this beer..

Cloudy, and pale orange in color, head is a bubblin', very slim and quickly fading.
Slight lemon and spice in the nose...a touch sour, and over-carbonated.
Taste is best described as blase'...orange and citrus lay on the palate, a bit too limply. Has the weizen taste, but only a shadow of it, truly, just a sliver. Light bodied, with a short, insignificant finish. Effective only as a quick-acting thirst-quencher, nothing more. Kind of a dud, really, but these bottles will come in handy during the hotter days we have now and yet to come.
I'd choose many other weizens for flavor, though.

Pours a strawlike yellow color with a very thin white head that disappears quickly.

A strong grassy and lemon smell is present along with a slight hop smell.

The taste of this beer is fairly average, very plain, and typical of many american wheat beers I have had. Most noteable is the lemon flavor , with a slight hop bitterness.

Overall, its an average beer, not to say its bad, just nothing outstanding. Though it is very easy to drink, and refreshing.

Pours a hazy golden yellow with a small white head that leaves good lace on the glass. Looks like a wheat beer.

The smell is lemony, doughy, and very nice. This smells very inviting.

The taste, however, is a little bland (almost non-existent) and uninspired. The aroma definitely misled me on the flavor.

Very thin and boring. Nothing special in the mouth with this beer.

Great Divide offers some good beers--this is not one of them. You expect certain things from a wheat beer and this one fails to deliver on most of the elements.

Hazy gold to light orange color. Foamy, dense white head. Yeasty swirl gave it some earthiness to the smell. Heavy wheat smell, not sweet or citrus, mostly harsh burnt batter smell. Smell lingers. Taste was oddly harsh, very metallic, mineral, hard water. Sulfer, chemical and underlying burnt flour again. Some wheat goodness could be detected toward the end. Not much to write home about. Metal smell and taste made it hard to finish. Do some of these American Wheat beers go bad faster than others ?

Orange gold color, slightly hazy. Small head. Aroma is fruity and slightly sweet. A medium bodied wheat beer. Malts are fruity, sweet, and a touch grassy. Hops are very slightly spicy. Fairly typical American wheat beer. No banana and clove flavor to it. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.
