Pours what appears to be a very dark brown very close to black. The head is small and off white in colour.
The smell is smoked malts, tobacco, earth and wood barrels. Very interesting and complex.
The taste is more hoppy than I expected. There are dark malts, coffee then a citrus hoppyness in the finish, tastes like oranges and lemons. This has way more hops than any other old ale I have tried.
The mouthfeel is medium bodied, finishes very wet with low to medium carbonation.
This was a very interesting ale, I was expecting a more malty, sweet flavour but this to me tastes like a hopy stout.
