From a 12 oz. bottle, 2006 release.
A - dark caramel-colored, like dark brown sugar and long-brewed tea. Very little head due to alcohol content; slightly-off white ring collars the glass. Fair retention and decent lacing.
S - lots of sweet malt aromas and alcohol. Candy sugar, caramel, toffee. Very little hop aroma evident. Smells exactly like a strong ale should - rich, creamy, malty, and assertive higher alcohols.
T - initially sweet, followed by an attempt at balance by some strong hop tartness and bitterness. Malty, tangy, like fresh toffee or caramel corn. Hop flavor is spicy, seems to be of the noble variety, but I'm not sure.
M - rich, full bodied beer. Finish is slightly sticky and sweet.
D - one of the tastiest winter brews out there, IMHO. Give this one a try for sure. Another solid offering from Great Divide.
