Rich and malty, with a distinctive nutty flavor. The nose is equally unusual with a fruitcake aroma plus caramel corn. Rather sweet as you sip, but eases into a long dark aftertaste with a pleasant bite of hops.
Coppery, reddish amber in the tall glass with plenty of suds. So mellow and full of that tawny, toffee flavor with hazelnuts and roasted malt. Even a hint of Scotch. Flavorful and mouthfilling. If you like anything with some fruit and darkness in it, this is a great beer to try.
This has been one of my top favorites among the winter and holiday seasonals for several years. Opened this one for Christmas night tasting. Should have put one out for Santa Claus with a turkey sandwich. And to all a good night!
