A 2006 bottle. Maybe an inch and a half of deep tan foam, thick, fine, slowly fades to a patchy skim with a thickened rim around the wall of the snifter. The beer is a dark amber with reddish highlights. Not brilliantly clear but then I didn't realize it was bottle conditioned until the yeast was well on its way.
Smells a lot like Old Ruffian- good! Brown sugar and loads of resiny American hops. Dark bread crust underneath a hoppy pecan pie.
Flavors echo and expand on the aroma. Everything above with some fig and a hint of dried cherry. Alcohol is present but easily ignored. A very nicely balanced sugary citric finish that goes on for a while.
Medium full body and medium carbonation. Very rich but it's hard to not drink this too fast. Incredibly inviting, I wish I had a few gallons more, though it's best I don't.
