Poured into a mason jar. Yum.
Wild Raspberry Ale pours a dark ruby red color with a thick, slightly pinkish-and-tan head that stays firm. Medium liveliness, some visible carbonation, not much. Smell is raspberry puree, background pale malt aroma, a nut-like aroma in there, too. Not a forced fruit smell, quite natural and not overpowering. Taste is more beer than fruit, thank god. Starts off with a nice nutty malt flavor, then the raspberries come in with subtlety. The raspberries never overpower the beer flavor. The finish is amazing, with alternating hazelnut malts and sweet-n-tart berries, lingering hops aftertaste. However, this could use a little more complexity and character to it. The taste is a little weak. Feel is smooth and light.
One of the better fruit beers I've tried and another solid beer from Great Divide.
