12 floz brown bottle with Aug 12 2009 as the bottled on date, served into lachouffe snifter.
A - beer has a deep amber glow when held up to the light, a mix of cadmium red and yellow ochre. the head gets pretty big, about two fingers; its a light cream colour with a hint of orange, warming up the overall colour. the head settles in a normal amount of time. the colour of the body is the real high point of the appearance.
S - real big caramel malt appearance in the nose, along with a real blunt hop character. very herbal smelling, and a bit of grapefruit, perhaps a bit of pine. the hops character isnt as multifacited as other beers, but the presence is still there. the only thing that I can tell that makes this hop nose very different is that the individual notes seem to decrease in proportion.
T - the taste is pretty damn solid. the initial taste is a slightly off center blend of hops to malts, going in the favor of the hops. the malts are pretty damn big in the beer, but it manages to keep the hops in front; the malts are really caramely, quite amazingly so. the finish is where the brew gest the majority of its flavour: it starts hoppy, really quite floral actually, maybe a bit more pine and some grass, and continues to build in intensity till it climaxes in a pinch of warm alcohol. the aftertaste is quite long lasting and more piney than anything else.
MF&D - a lighter medium body, with great carbonation, which could asset itself more in that the scale is too small. the drinkability is also quite good, as I find myself wishing this weren't a 12 oz bottle.
