22ox bomber poured into a pint glass. Bottle courtesy of a trade with grub, thanks buddy!
Aggressive pour leaves 1 1/2 inches of head with heavy lacing, very appealing. Orange in colour with tons of unfiltered chunky bits floating about. Fairly vigorous carbonation that dosen't let the head die easily. Aroma is heady and extremely appealing. Well balanced is how I would describe it. Lots of floral hops with a touch of citrus...orange and lemon peel mostly. The malt is very bready and warm, a bit like a cake baked with oranges. Caramel, vanilla and even a little mango in there....well balanced and delicious smelling.
Taste is very hop-forward, as expected. The floral character is delicate and melds well with the citric sourness. Medicinal, herbal, anise like flavours come out as well. The malt presence is huge and has to be to try to balance this beer out. Yeasty breadiness in the back with the caramel, vanilla and fruit flavours making this a very baking-like experience. The mouthfeel is thick with all that malty goodness, and the carbonation is medium, about right I'd say. I have a bomber to myself, and I know it'll knock me on my ass but I don't care, it's very good!
