Great beer with great feel and awesome taste! The smell is mesmerizing. The hops jump out and tease your nose. Once it hits the palate, the hoppiness and bitterness pair perfectly together. Overall an awesome beer and definetly a go to for a starter beer. But not a finisher. It would be a waste to numb your taste buds before drinking this beer!

Orangey copper color pour with about an inch white head and scant lacing.

Nose comprises mainly of sweetness in biscuit and caramel. Piney maybe some citrus cutting through but that's about all the "fruit" I can detect. Earthy hoppiness as well with alcohol creeping in the back.

Taste is sweet as well. Earthy hop through and through. Heavy doses of pine and caramel malt. Alcohol definitely evident but in this case I don't mind since it works so well with all of the noted above. For me not much in the way of any fruit. Apricot or maybe an overripe unsweetened mango?-is that possible? Either way the alcohol cuts it out anyway.

Mouthfeel is heavy with a lot of sugars, just about falls into the line of Barleywine territory. Coats the palate well and creamy with ample carbonation.

Sometimes a DIPA is what the doctor orders and this is sure some medication that can be prescribed. For me this could have really sparkled with more fruit presence but oh well. Love that it's hop driven, malty balanced and the alcohol is sure a pleasing comfort. An imperial to get to know and spend time with.

The icon. The measuring stick. The ideal to which all DIPAs must be compared. Balance, balance, balance. Hoppy, malty, yeasty, an aroma to die for. I hate the funkiness of Simcoe hops - none apparent here. I don't care for the onion / garlic overtones of Summit hops - none apparent here. What's here is an intense hop profile with 10% ABV that's so earthy, so balanced, so nuanced, that you really have to exercise some restraint to not forget what a kick in he backside you're enjoying. I've never had Heady Topper or either of the Plinys - they're on my "Ice Bucket" List. I'll try them when I get the chance but I'll be shocked, really shocked, if they measure up to Hercules, according to my palate. This is as good as it gets.

A- Opaque dark amber. Poured a super creamy 1 finger head. Awesome lacing.

S- Man, there's a lot going on: Orange, floral, toffee, fresh hop, bubble gum, grapefruit, and pine. Very unique.

T- Sweet citrus/caramel/hops up front, morphing into a super bitter, piney, spicy hop bomb. My poor palate just can't identify all the subtleties. Hops of all levels.

M- Thick side of medium. Oily, drying, coating.

O- This was a dynamite DIPA. To me, it fit right in with all the other sought after west coast IPAs out there. The aromas were heavenly, and the flavors were huge.
