Appearance is simply fantastic! I have never seen a RIS that's this nice looking! Dead black and impenetrable, producing a spectacular dark brown head that never seemed to want to go away, leaving amazingly thick chunks of great lacing.
Nice dark, roasty malt aromas waft up from my glass, along with a good woody smokiness, great dark chocolate and cocoa, and french roast espresso.
The taste is on track for a gold standard in the Russian Imperial Stout category. It's so bold, yet incredibly smooth. There's an in-your-face way about it, but its still incredibly drinkable. Classic imperial stout flavors are all there, roasted malts, coffee, chocolate, along with near perfect amounts of oak flavors.
Mouthfeel is simply amazing, and is just another fantastic facet of this terrific beer. So thick and creamy, with a silky carbonation and lightly warming alcohol effect that leaves a tiny sheen like tingling on your tongue. The alcohol is only slightly noticeable in the end, along with a great smooth bitter chocolate flavor that lingers along with the smoky wood finish.
Overall this beer is simply fantastic and I highly recommend it. One of my favorite RIS beers I've had. I will definitely use this beer as trading stock for the future.
For an oak aged beer like this one, the value is excellent at under $10.
Edit 6/14/11: after having now tried all the oak aged yeti offerings, this one is clearly the best. The chocolate and espresso oak aged yetis were both good, but each was a bit overblown compared with the regular oak aged yeti. There's something to be said here for not going over the top. Perfection was already reached with the oak aged yeti; there was no need to go over and beyond.

Look- opaque black, thick poor, thin dark tan head
Smell- hints of milk chocolate almost reminiscent of pudding, oak, coffee, molasses, nutty plum. Some cooked cabbage as well, unfortunately.
Taste- charred oak, bittersweet chocolate, earthy hops, semi-sweet malt in the middle followed by bitter dry finish with notes of cabbage. Alcohol is well hidden.
Feel- medium full, slightly sticky, medium carbonation
Overall- Despite the obvious infection, the aroma and appearance were quite inviting. Flavor was disappointing to me and I'm sure the infection played a role but I'm just not fond of the balance of roasted malt in Yeti.
