Sampled from a 22oz bottle purchased at Yankee Spirits in Attleboro, MA. Bottled on Sep 23 2013. Started at 50 degrees.
A - Deep, dark black. No light at all. A small tan head that dissipates quickly and leaves just a dusting. Good lacing though. Clings to the glass nicely.
S - Cocoa, coffee, wood and brown sugar. Hints of lactose and molasses as well.
T - The wood really stands up to the chocolate, coffee and roasted malts. It got better as it warmed. A hint of sweetness but mostly dry.
M - Think and chewy yet light and airy. A restrained carbonation of fine bubbles.
O - Very good but I'm not so sure it lived up to quite the ratings it gets.
