Vintage 2012 on tap at Brouwer's Café in Seattle. Served snifter-style.
Like the common Yeti, this one is quite black. It has a one finger layer of creamy brown mocha froth on top.
As with the base beer, I get an aroma of very dark, rich chocolate, coffee, and earth. However, there is also an awesome oaky, smoky smell in this version.
The flavor differs from the original Yeti in a similar way. Lots of pretty bitter coffee and chocolate, but mingled beautifully with smoke, oak, and leather. Impressive.
Oak aging hasn't made it any less thick or viscous.
A sensational twist on what was already a superb specimen of an imperial stout.

Look- opaque black, thick poor, thin dark tan head
Smell- hints of milk chocolate almost reminiscent of pudding, oak, coffee, molasses, nutty plum. Some cooked cabbage as well, unfortunately.
Taste- charred oak, bittersweet chocolate, earthy hops, semi-sweet malt in the middle followed by bitter dry finish with notes of cabbage. Alcohol is well hidden.
Feel- medium full, slightly sticky, medium carbonation
Overall- Despite the obvious infection, the aroma and appearance were quite inviting. Flavor was disappointing to me and I'm sure the infection played a role but I'm just not fond of the balance of roasted malt in Yeti.
