A- Poured from a 22oz bomber into a snifter. Pours a dark brown with no head.

S- Definite oak, coffee, and dark malt. Smells a bit of wet cardboard to me too. I am not sure I like the nose on heavily oaked beer.

T- This is a stout for sure. Oakey notes come through strongly with a strong hop profile. You still get the coffee and dark malts similar other stouts.

M- Lower carbonation but good for this stout.

D- This is a tough one to drink to much of but I did enjoy this glass.

Bottled 09/12

Look- opaque black, thick poor, thin dark tan head

Smell- hints of milk chocolate almost reminiscent of pudding, oak, coffee, molasses, nutty plum. Some cooked cabbage as well, unfortunately.

Taste- charred oak, bittersweet chocolate, earthy hops, semi-sweet malt in the middle followed by bitter dry finish with notes of cabbage. Alcohol is well hidden.

Feel- medium full, slightly sticky, medium carbonation

Overall- Despite the obvious infection, the aroma and appearance were quite inviting. Flavor was disappointing to me and I'm sure the infection played a role but I'm just not fond of the balance of roasted malt in Yeti.

Extremely black pour with a brown head...what could be better? I love the dark stuff and dark stuff with a dark head is even better. Everything about this beer is dark. Completely devoid of any lightness in the color and the head is only slightly lighter. The only thing holding the beer back is the head, which while beautiful, doesn't retain well. There is a nice lacing however.

Subtle scents abound, of caramel and toffee, and dark roasted malts. Faint chocolate. But in this, you can really smell the grains.

I love this beer. More roasted grains and a bit of chocolate. Either hops or bittersweet chocolate provide balance.

Sweet, then bitter, but always smooth and creamy. Despite the grainy feel, it's oh so creamy. The alcohol is always present, but in a good, manly way. Very thick and full bodied, could be a great dessert beer.

Such an easy beer to sip, despite the high ABV. The oak gives an ever-present earthiness to it. Bordering on flawless.

Bomber from Bristol Farms Palm Desert CA for 8$ - Dec 2011 bottle date

Appearance - Black/brown colour with a large size light brown coloured head. It's too dark to see the carbonation showing and there is some great lacing. The head lasted for around 4-5 minutes before it was gone.

Smell - Grains, chocolate/coffee, malts

Taste & Mouth - There is an average amount of carbonation and I can taste chocolate, coffee, and malts. There is also some some burnt/roasted notes and a light woodiness.

Overall - Can't pick up on the oak as much as I would like, but this is also a bottle from 2011. Holind up very well I might add. Still some great chocolate flavour and a bitter roastiness. A great beer that I will pick up again to try fresh.

2011 edition on tap at Mad Mex

Appearance: Solid black with a half finger dark brown head. Yetis are amongst my favorite looking beers

Smell: Chocolate, coffee, vanilla, caramel, oak, dark fruit. So complex!

Taste: Huge roasted and chocolate malt bill, coffee, vanilla, molasses with just enough oak/smoky character towards the end of the palate. Often times there's a particular characteristic of a beer that stounds out, but here each one is bold yet they balance eachother out perfectly

Mouthfeel: Between heavy medium and light heavy body; Smooth as silk with slight bitterness throughout. No alcohol detected whatsoever

Overall: I don't know if it's because this was both aged for three years and on tap, but I was amazed. This beer is instantly my favorite stout to date and a contender for the best beer I've had. Looks picture perfect, awesome balance with both flavors and aromas, and smooth as silk. Much better than the chocolate oak aged yeti, and my favorite in the series so far. I've always said that the perfect beer has big, bold American flavors and viscosity with English balance and smoothness, which i think I found here. HIGHLY recommended!!

Got this beauty today from a good friend. Turns out to be a vintage Oct 07 2010 bottle.

Chilled to cellar temp

A- poured beautiful black with a dark tan head

S- amazing. Deep roasted chocolate malt, alcohol, charred oak. It's hard to say in words.

T- Roasted caramel, burnt sugar, vanilla, bitter hops but finishes smooth with alcohol and charred oak.

M- Great body, almost chewy. Good carbonation.

O- One of the best oak aged stouts that I have ever tried

Turns out the place my friend got this has several more. I'm going to purchase the rest tomorrow.
